  8. ok having looked in to it a little further page 122 post #1211 ,page 138 post #1377 and page 169 post #1684 are all one and the same the first photo was taken in 86 or 87 in durham it is now being cared for by a chap in north devon who is removing all the body modifcations and returning it to something we will all recognise he has reskinned the doors and inside one of them found a hand written note saying 1 of only 50 made with 1500 ltr meadows petrol ,heavy haulage record 478 tons salisbury 1955 this vehicle is for sale (date of note is not known ) civvy reg is esu 197 military is either 01 bp 80 or 07 bp 80 ( is it more likely bd ) 1952 chassis 9211 it does not as yet appear in any form in the index yet ive let him have a few bits to help along the way he is most keen to get hold of the 4 tubes that mount the mug gaurds to the front axle hubs if any body can help let me know please andy

  10. ok we know it was new to ministry of supply march 43 the phot copy of the order was illegable so i called and they have written it down for us under the extras or speical fittings it says westinghouse direct air brakes warnertrailer brake 4209 gf winch gear cable v902 cav self strarter side lamp and nearside headlamp front drawbar laminated spring type towing bar fascia board with oil pressure gauge air pressure gauge tecalmet fuel filter triple rad cover oil bath air cleaner sadly we dont know the body type ther is none fitted at the mo my mate ,the owner wants to know the body type to recrteate it there is the remains of mountings for a atlas type crane we have only found 1 photo on the net asa mentioned above but not at all clear what type it says envirment agency as the previous owner on the log book the bcvm records have kent river board pencilled in if any one can shed any further light it will be most welcomecivvey reg is fvb 689 its thought to have not been seen at a rally or show oh and its use for the river board was tpo tow a bulldozer about only going out of service when the driver retirerd i wont have net access for a week or so ill reply to anything you gauys can combe up with then many thankes andy
  11. as promised an update the archives officer is a part time volenteer and getting to speak to him was a task however once conntact was made he was very helpfull they have records for any of the leyland group so scammall eastern body works ect once they had my payment 2 days later it turned up if you need to contact them ask for ron phillips but only phone on a monday morning

  14. me and the other half are planing to turn up saterday first thing ,both of us for the first time so just thinking as we are staying at chatham how long shuold we allow for travel , im thinking are the public ques as bad as getting to gdsf and secondly are we better of useing the advertised shuttle from paddock wood or driving staight to the publis parking thanks andy
  15. i was thinking maybe eagle it has similarites to my mates early eagle namely the turntable and the drawbar setup i know quite a lot of there production was for barrage baloon trailers who knows you might have 1 of them !! they were i believe from warickshire

  18. yes thanks ian we got 1947 from the date of first reg so new in early 43 and demobbed around 25 july 1947 from where can we obtain the build sheets?it would be good to see them as it has no body or crane so itll be good to see how it left the factory it does have the winch and m ounts of a hiab/ atlas type crane andy
  19. a freind of mine has recently purchased a 1947 matador it came from someone who bought it straight from the enviroment agency he would like to know if it was new to them or there predesesser or may it have gone to the mod first ? it has never been to a rally so photos of it are rare the only one weve found is of it involved in an accident in a kent village with a trojan van we are hoping you may be able to shed some light on it reg is fvb 689 chassis no 08535230 thanks in anticipation andy
  20. strong neat battery acid ive known a leaking steam engine rivet soaked in it overnight hold 120 psi 14 hours later (dont try that at home ) treat with great care though dont spill it on your skin eyes etc

  22. if you know its military roll no ( mod number plate in the form of 02 bd 10 ect ) the rlc at princess royal barracks deepcut may help but be warned they will keep the £25 search fee if they dont find anything they did with me im reskining the doors on my mk 1 and found a very faded stencil on the inside of the nearside door stating y sqn lad phone york ****** you may be lucky if your doors are unmolested good luck andy
