  2. hi can any one help when accelerating it tends to backfire in the carb .I think the main jets are over fuelling and have heard of a Marcus conversion but don't know where to get it or to the size of the main jets. I replaced the engine with a cvrt :nut: jaguar engine
  3. if the oil is the correct type the fluid flywheel could be leaking pressure check it laurence
  4. I filled mine with the correct oil and tapped a thread into a spare filler plug that would take a brass inertube valve .Pressurised it and checked for leaks it was perfect. may have a filler plug and valve in the stores.
  5. hi Robin Imake a template in ,cardboard, cut metal ,front and sides one piece. Using apress put idents into front panel cut holes for rope anchors ,make these anchor indents [these take alot of time if you dont have a jig for the press] bend panels to shape and weld together .Even if you have the gear they are sods to make thats why nobody does them. Iwill be making two in the new year one is for me the other is sold[£320] will try to remember to take pics Laurence
  6. have made three bins in the past they are very difficult. Am about to make another for my latest ferret they take between 30 /35 hr to make.I also have acouple ofused bins and wings waiting repair laurence
  7. If temp gauge goes to hot when switched on it is going to ,,earth change sender unit check leads ,finally replace sender unit ,gauge and leads laurencde
  8. Sometimes pouring neat Readex down the carb when the engine is running realeases the valves I have used this trick many times in the motor trade.Tons of smoke little at a time laurence
  9. White smoke is usually ahead gasket or cylinder head or block. Same happened to me last year,the cylinder head is a bit heavy but is not to hard to do. Laurence.

I let one my female friends have ago driving one of my ferrets , the back of the ferret stepped out on the slippy byway the result was ;- she paniced the ferret pushed over a tree ferret no damage tree at a different angle friend white as a sheet me short of a heart attack note to the unwarry ferrets bite Laurence

  17. thanks Richard but I am informed that it is possible that the Fox was manufactured 12 mths before the regestration date. I need hard evidence to satisfy DVLA Laurence
  18. Hi guys wonder if anyone can help me find the year of manufacture of my CVRW FOX it was registered 1/11/1973. If it was manufactured before 1/1/73 it would be TAX EXEMPT. The data plate is on the vehicle ,and its reg no is 08 FD 67 thanks Laurence:angel:
  19. if the threads are just damaged on the end then you can buy atool called a thead file .this cleans the threads by fileing the damaged threads good luck laurence

  22. I should imagine on the derated jag its a different piston causing a lower compression ratio laurence
  23. replacing points note position of the washers on the low tension wires if you fit them incorrectly it wont start. make sure when gapping that you rotate the engine to open the points then adjust Laurence
  24. never clean the rotor arm or the posts in the distributor cap with anything abrasive this increases the gap betweenthe rotor and distributor posts making the coil to work harder laurence
  25. according to my information your ferret was a batch of 82 built in 1958 andwas a mk 2/3 contract no6/fv4267 01ca00 - 01ca81
