  1. American soldiers weren't fat, they were in their late teens and twenties, and fit; and looking back on myself at that age, I wasn't fat either! Middle aged spread hasn't been to kind to me in recent years though! I saw a picture of a jeep that had the drivers seat supports cut, and extended rearward by about 6 inches. This also involved cutting into the rear wheel arch to accomodate the seats new backrest position. There is no built in adjustment. I can still fit behind my jeep wheel, but because of my long legs, I have to get my right knee under the steering column before sitting on the seat, or it won't fit past! Steve
  2. I desperately want a B-17 version of that! 36ft long, 9ft wide, it might just fit on my driveway, and with the chin and top turret both with twin 50's, traffic jams would be a thing of the past. Steve
  3. Come on Jack, getting Tim to do anything useful is hard enough as it is. Throw in spelling and grammar too, and we're stuffed! I'll be taking plenty of photos Steve
  4. I think it's quite an interesting question. With wars that have happened all over the globe, there must have been vehicles of all eras scattered everywhere. However, from looking at the internet, from my observations, the military vehicle preservation movement seems to be predominantly a white European/North American passtime. If this is correct, why? There are nations across the world proud of their general heritage, so what is it that makes us different, or are we just more vocal/public about what we do? Steve
  5. Got this as part of an email from George the other day. Makes you wonder what could be lurking in and around your vehicle.......... "While looking at the back end, I looked underneath and spotted something I didn't expect to see. Sticking out the hole behind the fuel tank was..................... a blank round!! The percussion cap has been hit but the other end looks like it has never fired." Steve
  6. Just seen it. Much cleaner looking, but it still has that dodgy looking guy on it at the top left. Steve
  7. Entry Closing Date is MAY 7th - If anyone is interested, just a few days to go. Steve
  8. Quite miffed!! I was out so had to record it, but the DVD ran out of space after about 50 minutes! I was recording too many other things!! Steve
  9. Are you sure they're not just escaping over the border with the picture of the 'fallen madonna with the big boobies by Van Clump', or the 'cracked vase with the big daisy by Van Gough'?? Steve
  10. For those of us slightly slow on the technical side of things, what is transmission wind up? Steve
  11. I think most people are camping on or near Framlingham airfield. I'm sure there will be people with generators, but either way, I'll have a 12v to mains inverter with me if you need 240v for your laptop. I use it for my laptop, fridge transformer etc. Steve
  12. The guys from York are driving 200 miles to get there! I know it's downhill from York, so it's gotta be easy for you driving across! Steve
  13. Do we know whether the 'King of Beckettstan' is bringing his Jimmy yet?? :dunno: Steve
  14. I'm not sure of the exact times, but the touring starts early on Friday morning, and I'm guessing we're done late afternoon on Sunday, to give people time to pack up and go home again. I'm sure Clive has got the exact tour worked out by now so he should have a good idea when things will kick off and pack up. Steve
  15. I'll sort out the pics soon. The site they were linked from has now moved to a new host, so the links are now broken. Steve
  16. The pages have been quite slow to load for me too. Certainly compared to many of the other sites and forums I visit. What is the bandwidth on the new site host, and are we sharing with many others? Steve
  17. We spent the afternoon welding up holes in Georges Jeep! There were 20+ holes for accessories, hood blocks, additional lights etc, that George really didn't want. Fortunately the slight sign of rain passed, and we got it all done in 3 hours. It needs a little more rubbing down and some rust treating, then the paint can come out! Steve
  18. I never got dancing girls when I joined I feel cheated  Let me know which sub forum they are in. Steve

  20. George is a very trusting soul ( some might say naive!! ). I've only known him a few months, and yet he gave me several thousand pounds in notes to go and collect the jeep from Tim!!! ( Tim, don't let George know you sold it for £2000 and I kept the rest!!! :-D ) I didn't put much pressure on George, but if I hadn't 'leaned' on him, he would have only wasted the money on bills or decorating etc! Here's a picture of George just after getting the jeep, on its first run out. It is currently somewhat mottled after having several layers of paint rubbed down. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mvtne/members/jeep_george/jeep_george1.jpg[/img] http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mvtne/members/jeep_george/george_jeepb.jpg[/img] Steve
  21. Hi John, Do you have any more, slightly larger pics ( about 700 pixels wide ) you could email me to add to the Gallery of the Yorkshire MVT website? Steve
