  3. The Crank Up for 2007 ended up much warmer than the previous year, with no sign of snow at all! The day started with all the vehicles meeting at Stanhope Railway Station, the venue for a larger show in early June this year. Once everyone arrived, we had a total of 14 military vehicles on display, which included the Champ, Land Rover, and Staff Car in addition to the large collection of Jeeps and Dodges. Next the vehicles proceeded in convoy to the 'Black Bull Inn' at Frosterley for lunch. From the 'Black Bull', the convoy reformed and headed on to Hamsterley Forest car park, prior to following the forest trail through the woods. There was a brief stop on the way to allow Bill to take point as he had made the arrangements to drive through the forest. On arrival at the car park, we pretty much took over the place, causing much amusement to the families out for a quite day in the country! Not long into the forest, Ken's Champ was having overheating problems, stopping the convoy for a little while. He decided to stop and cool off, while the rest of the convoy continued. After leaving the forest, the convoy continued on to the 'Locomotion' Railway Museum at Shildon for some press photos for the 'War Weekend' there over the Easter holiday. After which, everyone made their way home. See a brief video of part of the drive HERE More photos can be found in the Events Gallery of the NE MVT SITE Steve

  8. 'War On The Line' at Weardale Railway New for 2007, the MVT (NE) has teamed up with Weardale Railway in Stanhope Co Durham to create a 1940's theme to the railway for the weekend. That said, the event will be open to military vehicles from all eras, so post war vehicle owners need not be left out of the display. We have a large field adjacent to the railway at Stanhope Station in which to display vehicles, dioramas, stalls and re-enactment/living history groups. Camping is free to exhibitors and stall holders. DOWNLOAD PDF ENTRY FORM HERE Entries to be received before May 7th
  9. There's nobody to play with up here, and generally a lack of USAAF airplanes too! I manage a few pics, but there's really a shortage of suitable backgrounds in the North East. Steve
  10. So what are the differences?
  11. Do you moonlight in the 'Tango' adverts?
  12. It's more Meccano than Airfix, so you might get some of those little spanners with it! Will it look something like this when fitted? Steve
  13. Did they deliver any instructions too? :dunno: Steve
  14. I was also school age during the war. I was at an Yamaha Organ recital when the news came through that it was all over. The organist had been demonstrating the ability of the Yamaha Organ to simulate a Steel Drum band, and to do this he had to de-tune the organ. A guy burst into the room to announce that the fighting was over, and someone immediately stood up and requested the National Anthem. Without thinking, the organist took up the request and began playing the anthem on the still out of tune organ!! Everyone stood and sang along, but Hmmmmm! :-o I've heard better versions! Steve
  15. I'm an estate agent!!! Give me a call if I can help stress you out any more? Steve
  16. I hate drivers who use a slip road to join motorways at 40mph instead of accelerating to a speed similar to the traffic flow, and who slow down to 40mph on the motorway a mile before a slip road. I always thought slip roads were to allow traffic to merge and exit at similar speeds! Then there's those who cut across lanes on roundabouts, instead of following the lanes..... People who don't indicate..... People who overtake you and then slow down! I love our office girls, they're hot!! and on that note, nuff said! Steve
  17. As far as I know, there are still insurance issues with the aircraft. I haven't read anything on the aviation forums to say if this has been sorted. Steve
  18. I won't actually be going there, but I suspect it would be a little warm to wear full flying kit in mid summer; however, this is England, so you never know!! Steve
  19. I have several more pics of the RAF Minx. PM me with your email address if you want me to emaill them to you. Steve
