  1. A-6A Flying Shoes fitted over the service shoes and Q-1 inners.....
  2. Got a few pics of me kitting up at Eden Camp over the weekend, and thought I'd share....... A-11 Alpaca Trousers and Q-1 heated shoe inners.....
  3. These are the only schemes I've seen. I hope these are Minx!! my vintage car knowledge is a bit limited. Steve
  4. These are the only 'Cats' I know anything about.......the Consolidated version http://rcsb1.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/walk/mainpic/catalina.jpg[/img] I seem to recall seeing a 'tracked cat' in a French museum that had been used since the war in a quarry, and only retired in 1995! Steve
  5. Of course you knew, just like you can tell us all the differences between the OD and red finished GMC's! ;-) Steve
  6. The very early Mk1 Spits had two blade wooden props. These were later changed to the three blade Rotol ( ? ) prop. As engine power increased, more blades were added to absorbe the power being produced, ie 4 blade. On the very late Spits with Griffon engines, they had massive 5 blade props to absorb the 2000+HP the engines produced. The GRP replica is a Mk9 or slightly later version, and has a 4 blade prop fitted, and probably came from the moulds that were made for the "Piece of Cake" LWT Television series, though more recently, some were made for the Pearl Harbor film. Steve
  7. So why did that make you look twice?? It's only a Spitfire, and a plastic one at that! Steve
  8. I was guessing Jack was referring to the 'flying' shot that made him look twice, and that is indeed a Hurricane, even though a fibreglass one! Steve
  9. "Jack, we gotta do some serious training here !" "Give him 500 lines Jack......'I must learn differentiate ..........etc'" "Nah, give him a 1000 and make him push both vehicles, he'll never forget......" Sound familiar?? Jack - could see me after school please  I will have to set up some aircraft recognition tests if you're gonna remain on our side!! Steve
  10. Here's a selection of pics from my trip to Eden Camp. The weather was kind, considering how early in the season it is. Images deleted from Photobucket account
  11. I'll add some pics shortly. Just need to resize and photobucket them. The show had good weather, but was fairly quite as I suspected for the beginning of March. Had a good turn out of re-enactors there, with quite a few Germans, some of whom we captured! Back shortly with the pics. Steve
  12. It would appear difficult to get WC54 owners to come out of hiding!!!! It was a good day too. Much better than the return trip which took and RAC van and two flatbed trucks! Lynne's car broke a front coil spring on Saturday night going out for a meal, which also damage the tyre. The jeep gave us no trouble at all! The first truck that came to help suffered an electrics failure ( after everything was loaded! ) so we ended up with a second truck to get us home. Steve
  13. 'Jessie' is now perched on top of the trailer, and we're just about to have something to eat. We're heading off to stay at my dads overnight, so well only have about 45 mins to an hour in the jeep in the morning to get to the camp. Steve
  14. I get it too because of asthma, and I do believe it helps, though like FV, I still get colds which often end up as chest infections. That's what triggered my asthma when I was 34. These nasty little bugs seem to be on the increase, and of course, the more people you work/come into contact with, the more you get exposed to different strains. When I worked as a college technician, the students frequently brought pestilence, famine and death with them. I'm sure that Flu or the common cold is what will finally kill off mankind, it won't be a big war, terrorism, or natural disaster, just a little virus! But I hope you get better!!!! ;-) Steve
  15. For anyone in the Yorkshire area, several members of the WW2 Re-enactors NE and myself are attending Eden POW Camp Tomorrow ( March 3rd ). I'll have the jeep there and I think one or two others were planning to bring their WC51/52's. For more details of the POW Camp, visit their site - EDEN CAMP Hope to see you there. I'll post some pics after the weekend. Steve
  16. Attached is the PDF flyer/entry form for the Debach Airfield Open Day. It's a great event, and well worth visiting. Full details can be found on their website. http://www.493bgdebach.co.uk/ Dance June 9th, Open Day June 10th
  17. If the oil can bypass the filter anyway, so can any metal shavings!
