  1. These photos were taken at The Wrecker Trials at Shottesbrooke in the 1970's.
  2. Saw this AEC at Moss Motors in Chalford Trading Estate, looks to be in good condition.
  3. Lovely buses to make, but why oh why cant we have a decend sized model of a Diamond T 980/981 to make that doesn't cost the earth. Not everybody is interested in Buss's, motorbikes, cars, or modern lorries, tanks are OK, but when they break down you need a transporter, & in WW2 there weren't that many different ones, Diamond T were I suppose the famous ones (apart from Scammell). As far as I can tell there have only been three manufactures of the models of the T, Revell, too small, Wespe & another one, which are very expencive.:drive:
  4. Alan Oxborough's 1942 T, on the Fosseway, Glos, 27th Aug. On the way to Dorset. Alan
  5. Worst film for me was Lawrence of Arabia, so bored I went to sleep after the first 10 minutes.:sleep::sleep:
  6. I think we should compliment all persons who take the time & hard earned money to restore all old vehicles, I admire anybody doing it, & just wish I could as well, but I have to admit I am not that clever, nor do I have the money to do so, nor the money to buy the vehicle in the first place, so I take my hat off to all you guys who are doing what you love to do. Thanks to you we are able to view a living history. dizzy-t:tup:::iamsmiling::drive:
  7. I used to drive a 7 1/2 ton box van with a Hatcher sleeper pod on the cab roof, inside the pod there was a warning, Do not to drive this vehicle whilst occupying this sleeper. :drive::drive::drive:
  8. Dear Sir. I am not sure as to where you live, if you are in the UK, you could try giving Computer Heroes a ring, their number is 01242 511026, this is a Cheltenham, Glos. No, there are two guys working there, Shane & Tom. Hope you get sorted soon. Regards Dick Smith (dizzy-t)
  9. Hi Adrian, thanks for the message, it was very interesting, hope your T is coming on OK. incedently the prices of Corgi Diamond T's seem to be on the up, I'm attempting to get all the T's which I parted with some years ago, back.:writing::drive:
  10. Just been tracking the 1942 Diamond T on ebay, the auction has now finnished & did not get to its reserve price, best they could manage was £2.555.00P, so how would this vehicle be worth & I wonder if they are going to re list it, it would be shame to see it go for scrap. Hopefully the seller will accept a reasonable price for it.
  11. If you are looking for a Tarpauline, try an Builders Merchants, sometimes they sell them, there is a Jewsons down on the Harbour at Portmadoc, dont know what their prices are like, I think there is a Haulage Firm in Portmadoc you could try them, they haul stone, they might have an old one they could help you with, other than that you would have to google in Truck Tarpaulines & see what comes up, Good luck.
  12. I have contacted a firm called clothes2order regarding sweatshirts/T shirts, mugs, & badges regarding Diamond T's, if any one is interested in having one made, they can contact a Charlotte Doolan & she will sort you out, I would definatley be up for having a sweatshirt with a T on it, but the more you order the less the price will be, they can print or embroider (?) anything you like, I can supply a picture of a T for them to use, something to remember the 70th anniversary by. If any one would care to put in an order please let me know so that I can order one for myself. Dizzy-t:drive::drive::drive::drive:
  13. I went to Toddington Steam fair last year, on asking around no one had anything regarding DT, I did find a firm who will do a mug, providing I/we send a photo of the vehicle, I think there was a Scammell Military Wrecker Mug (same as Nikki Owens See his blog on the forum), I have found a firm who will print or embroider a Diamond T onto a sweat or T shirt, I was going to have one, but now I have had an email from them asking how many I want, so I suppose if we could get enough T owners we might get a better price, but seeing as how I only want one & dont know anyone else who would have one, I suppose the price would be highish, I was also thinking on a metal lapel badge of a T, once again I only want one, I have some of Land Rovers, if any one is reading this letter & they want to know about the items I have written about, I will give them the name and address of the firm, its in Coventry. Regards Dick
  14. Have just found a picture of your T, natty place to put the straight bar. Do you still have the Diamond T sign on the radiator grill?.At GDSF I suppose you can buy most items, do they have stalls for T owners?.
  15. In 2008 it took 6 3/4 hrs at 30 -35 mph. last year i split the journey over 2 days at 25 -30 mph towing showmans living van. Total driving time about 8 1/2 hrs ,the living van providing a comfortable rest over night. Fuel consumption is pretty good at 10 mpg but thats due to having leyland 680 power plus engine and leyland 5 speed + overdrive box coupled to original 3 speed auxillary box. That fuel consuption is pretty good then, concidering some of the modern artics cant get much. Look forward to meeting you in September. Regards from Dick
  16. You have a long drive down, how long will it take you & what does yours do to the gallon? Regards Dick Smith Have looked through the forum to see if there is a photo of your DT, cant find one, could you put one on, or tell me if there is one, what page it is on?:drive:
  17. 495 XUX . I will have a large selection of chocolates for everyone in diesel heavy haulage to sample ,see you there. Regards Alan. You have a long drive down, how long will it take you & what does yours do to the gallon? Regards Dick Smith
  18. :drive:QUOTE=diamond 981;261625]I think there are at least ten expected at dorset, mike will have exact number ,you are welcome to ride in mine .. Many thanks for the offer, just bring along the Chocolates, (free samples of course). You will have to let me know which T I should be looking for, I have never been to GDSF before, I hope to leave home at about 6am, should get to the ground about 8am & find a good parking space then into the ground at 9am, when the gates open, thats if all things go to plan, see you there. Regards dizzy-t:drive:
  19. I have decided to come to Dorset in September, as I would like to meet all the T owners, could any one tell me how many T's are expected.? Hope you all have a good run down from where ever you are coming from. Would like to have ride in a T if any one would care for a mate for a trip around the course. :nut::cool2::wow::wow::whistle::saluting::drive::drive:
  20. I have a figurine from the stable of Border Fine Arts, its title is 1st Trial, my question is this, on the front cross member (where the power take off would come through from the gear box, there is a No 2 stamped on the chassic member, this figurine was copied from the real vehicle, can anybody tell me please whats the 2 for, also I notice that the exhaust pipe from the cylencer sticks out rather a long way, was this standard practice for the 1948 models. I have asked these questions on a Land Rover Forum, but all I get is sarcastic remarks, so I am asking the sencible experts now.Looking forward to your replies.:wow::kissoncheek::tup:::drive::banana:
  21. Just had a reply, they sell at 13,500,00 UKP, & you have to specifie what colour you want, plus left or right drive & I think it said you have to wait 10 months, it would be cheaper to buy the real thing.:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:
  22. Have just emailed the maker of this model. will post his reply & hopefully price when I get it.:writing::banana::coffee:
  23. Brilliant, just a shame its not a S1 SWB. Looks better than my S3 after a complete rebuild.
  24. To anyones knowledge, has any one done a 1/25th, 1/24th scale Diamond T 980/981 Closed cab, I know there is a 1/35th version made by a Romanian model making firm, but just wondered if any of you model makers might know of one a bit cheaper. I did have all the Corgi Diamond T's at one time, but now have about 10 left. I know the Revell one is still available but 1/76th scale is too small for me. It seems strange to me that with all the Tank models out there, there is not a Diamond T to go with them, or even an Antar
