1. ??????? I have no idea what paint is nail polish but I found it is incredibly durable and comes in pretty colours of course . Have used it from marking tools to doing those fiddly bits on the cars. I marked some spanners with nail polish and some with spraypaint and 2 years later the polish ones are still marked. One HSE warning though dont let your missus catch you sorting through her nail polish collection. You could buy as gifts camo colours
2. cheers thats a handy link as I have to delve into the fuels issues a lot :-D
3. MUM is diesel and MOGAS is petrol I have one document and it lists all the properties then it gets to MUM and has nothing. This is what happens on weekends every time cheers for that link though as I can try some other stuff in there
4. Another sideline job if I get the urge when I get back is to fix these boxes :-| This is the better one Well I'll do the cutting and a guy from work can TIG up the pieces
5. ground penetrating radar towed behind on a skid or trailer would be the best approach and gives definitive results i.e. should be able to recognise larger parts. They uses these to inspect bridges by several NDT companies. Not sure if DCVG might work, but I'll ask around as DCVG is used to detect coating breakdown in underground piping and my guess anything buried since wwii most likely has coating loss :-D
6. Nope off a Tata truck :red:. I got several of them as the mortar support Pinzgauers have a large plate accross the rear which is a weight to hold the rear end down. Saves me having to crawl around the mud
7. See if I have any luck tonight Travelling way too much. The tilting of the trucks is awesome as we got over45 on several occasions Fairly scary given the height of the pinz. At one point I was standing on the spare tyre at the two o'clock postion to stay upright. I have to finish the video now I am back in kl.

been ages since I could post pictures Salisbury for a bit of Pinzgauer green laning or bush bashing as it is called in Australia
16. There was a guy pulling them up with a grappling hook a few years back but the US stepped in and said it still belongs to them put it back. I guess something written in the fine print that required the destruction of all this stuff after the war as I would have thought the historical value would have prevailed but at the time it did not. Basically the shelf aint that far out so they went out and dumped it off the side. As for Oakey I heard the stories about that in the mid 70's and later I was actually stationed there. Never heard of anyone rebuilding a Spitfire from bits laying around the airfield as Oakey Airfield has been the home of Army aviation since the early 70's The coal mines where some said the Spitfires were hidden are a bit further east at Acland which last I heard was now a huge pit. When I was there it was a museum with small underground mine. A lot of aircraft were melted down in Kalgoorlie and I recovered a lot of spitfire panels and parts what a guy had built his chook shed from. Also Merredin was a smelting area Truscott had a lot of stuff buried and dumped there as due to its inaccessibility few people got in to see. I knew a guy who did a trip up there for the aviation museum and found some good stuff laying around and it was always my dream trip to get in there by boat. Alas Truscott has been reopened to service the oil rigs in the Timor sea and everything there is now belonging to the local historical society and therefore rusting away
17. Nice stinking hot sunny day :-D so back to one colour after 6 months
18. Chinese New Year over here so Gong Xi Fa Chi to our Chinese friends As I can move the truck, my plan is to tidy up the paint, or more correctly paint all the new body panels I fitted so I can bolt a lot of stuff back on. It gives me a welcome break from the engine bay which I cannot close up as waiting on some new bits to go in there. Car looks like it has measels :-D weather prevailing it will be painted tomorrow
19. had a bit of a closer look. Both are missing their carburettors. None on ebay at present so the pondering continues
20. Well finally after 6 months I have the brm brm sound coming from the engine http://pinzgauer-td.webs.com/apps/videos/videos/show/12264849-6-months-later- yep is just an engine running but to me it was music after so long and all the bits I changed. Correct use of tools (well when no helper is around to hold the nut :cool2:)
21. I had the same thought as you dont see the red cross very often in relation to the Japanese forces. In this picture you can see the cross and the roundel which I doubt would comply?? But in this case I think it is red cross as one of the album characters is a medic (If somone identifies the ambulance they will be doing well). Perhaps at this point there was still some attempt at compliance
22. G'Day & Welcome that weird one is on ebay http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?22233-Stonefields-and-other-vehicles
