  1. Thank you one and all, I will go with 2 tonne for the basic engine.
  2. Would anyone know the weight of a L60, less radiators ? I may have to collect one and do not want to overload my vehicle.
  3. I have found out that the gantry body was taken off the Guy for use on a Chevrolet. So somewhere there is /was a FBAX chassis cab.
  4. Richard That's the chap ! or should I say was the chap, anyway what is past is past. It was a gantry vehicle but I only had the workshop photo to post, I crave your indulgence.... Thank you, I might just contact Mr Gaine.............. Bob
  5. I post this works photo of the Guy FBAX as I am curious to find out what became of one. In about 1986 I travelled down to Poole in Dorset to view one of these that was for sale. The chap who owned it was to say the least a bit off hand, I do not recall his name. Would anyone know anything about the vehicle, it was parked up towards a chain link fence in the open.
  6. I sold a Shorland turret to a chap who did not use it, it is for sale, so if anyone is looking for one then please contact me
  7. Have a look on the Great War Forum, there are people who I am sure can help. I have trench map CD, what in particular are you looking for ?
  8. Caught you ! Doing two Forums at once................

This is/was a very good explanation, particulary the 'fluid flywheel'. Would that today there were narrators with such a commanding and distictive voice................. Thanks for posting Bob
  11. Two more; a M10 high on the fell and Ferret Mk4 all from 1987
  12. This was in the western area of Warcop, man shown is David Herbert he owns (or did) a Ram.
  13. So, I have had to wait five minutes for an answer ! Good grief you are slow......... Any info on the Pig that had it fitted ? Thanks Bob
  14. I have had this item for years, it must have come from a PIG as faintly written on the back is 30 BK 4(7?) What can the Pig experts come up with regard to the use?
  15. John Pearson and the RN helicopter pilot, so you can see how long ago this was taken.
  16. We are still on the Churchills for now, The photos were taken circa 1987 at the latest and were all on what you are calling Churchill Ridge. Bob
  17. I suppose I had better make a contribution as I went up to Warcop in the (happy) late 1980's. Note the early track and red/white/red AFV or tank distinguishing sign on the last photo. More pics later Bob
  18. Ludgershall early 1990's. You were not supposed to take photos............ Bob
  19. May be confusion here, it was our Hippo that was licenced as a crane. It had a chain block hanging on a RSJ which in turn was hanging from the canopy frame. not rearly a crane at all ! Possibly John Groves Hippo was also a crane, his Hippo was much better than ours. Bob
  20. 'John' in Warrington, about 8 miles from me, was probably John Groves from memory.............. I seem to remember that it was licenced at the time as a crane and then had the small road tax duty of £16. It was purchased from David Crouch and driven home on trade plates at 33mph. Thanks for all the info Bob
  21. A group of us owned this Hippo in the mid 1980's. It is shown at RAF Burtonwood about to be stored in a hanger. We had it registered but it had to have a Q plate. Does anyone know what happened to Q255GDB ?
  22. John I have a MK/MJ cab rear screen if you want it as a spare ? Bob Grundy
  23. This is the one that was at Stapeley Water Gardens, I first saw the vehicle in 1967 (yes 67),out side a garage in Kendle, it may have been in Westmoreland then and not Cumbria. David Cheeseman who lived nearby then had it in his Hall House Collection. The Collection was moved to Stapeley as a feature which lasted a number of years. There was an auction of the stuff and Karl Budge ended up with it and I purchased it from him in 1998. This is an early one, 1939, with the cast radiator, I did own Tobins at one time, his is the low grade, inferior, undesirable CDFW with the sheet metal radiator cowl........ A few false starts with it as I have a lot to do, but this is now 'The Big Push' to get it done in the next 12 months Bob
  24. Richard Would you know the fellow ? Perhaps I may contact him ? Thanks for the info Bob
  25. A photograph of my MCC 'CDF' undergoing restoration. I am in touch with Tobin Jones who has one of these and I was wondering if there is any others out in the wild somewhere? There was a report that one was near the south coast possibly Sussex ? Bob Grundy Error.....Should be 30cwt not 39cwt
