  1. Thanks for the interest Chaps, so the weather was kind today and things came on leaps and bounds. Ordnance fitted VERY carefully as not to damage any paint work ,this really is a heavy lump of steal to have hanging on the front of a telehandler and with only an inch to play with things were tight. Anyhow I could not resist fitting some CES as I have been looking at it for the past couple of years in the back store room so it is now where it belongs. I also fitted the sight assembly which was another parts I restored some time ago along with the 'cut off' bar. Next task is to paint the Ring and fit the firing linkage. more pics for those interested upwards and onwards ! Rob...................rnixartillery
  2. Well after a very long wait and several other restorations later I now have enough space in the workshop to hopefully finish the Pheasant. The Gun was assembled in primer a couple of years back to make certain it would all fit together correctly which is how it has been since then. My son and I lifted the ordnance from the saddle last Saturday and the carriage was swiftly dismantled and prept ready for paint. We are weather dependant lifting the painted gun back on the carriage today making the whole thing more mobile and to progress while the enthusiasm is still with me ! Pics attached Rob..........................rnixartillery.
  3. Peter Jackson has quite a collection of WWI Artillery that he has been collecting up for a few years now ,much of it from the UK. Preparing for his take on the story of Gallipoli I think ! Rob....................rnixartillery.
  4. Not to mention the freshly flailed hedge rows, the modern asbestos cement barn in the back ground in one scene, the fact that three hand grenades went off inside the tank and the corpses were still intact and an ss infantryman decided to let the last one live after they had shot down what seemed to be hundreds of his comrades . The Film was utter rubbish but then again we all know Hollywood cant make a well depicted war film ! Rob.................rnixartillery.
  5. This is not specific to the Light Gun and not listed in the accessories or parts lists, These type of lamp are quite common and I think are a generic item used for a multitude of towing purposes. As a note the Light Gun is generally towed with the barrel reversed and locked so there is no barrel protrusion at the rear so no need for a barrel light. For Short distance movement ,relocation the barrel is locked in the A-frame . 6. Yes ,I have originals along with Illustrated parts lists. Quite happy to post down under ! Pm me for more details. Cheers Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  7. Craig, I have just returned home from a parts hunt and bought one and half tons of artillery parts in amongst it all is a polsten sight bar you are looking for ! Rob...............rnixartillery.
  8. I have a spare sight bar if yours is missing ? Rob...................rnixartillery.
  9. Well this is what you need to find out, if there is one thing I have learnt over the years is never think you know where they all are because its amazing what's lurking in sheds and collections that we don't know about ! Rob...................rnixartillery.
  10. Martyn, Tim Isaac has already posted on this thread regarding their C9B and he has stated the gun is not original to the chassis ! Rob.................rnixartillery
  11. Ah...................come to think about it you are quite right Richard and the restorer in question..................well er ! It goes to prove you need to do your homework and networking is a very good place to start as this has just proved. Rob...................rnixartillery.
  12. What you will find as you research preserved C9/B's is that they almost all differ when it comes to the Guns, you need to remember that most had the Ordnance removed before being de-mobbed or given new roles in civy street . Most in preservation today have had replacement Guns fitted as they were restored and generally the ordnance has been removed from towed carriages and fitted to the truck, the key is to find a C9B that has never been dismantled so still carries its original gun. I believe the muckleburgh one although restored has a replacement gun fitted ,my bet would be on the one at Firepower ! Rob......................rnixartillery
  13. I take it you know of Michael Savouries (Muckleburgh collection) and Mr Fisher's on the Isle of White ? Rob...................rnixartillery.
  14. No The motors are War time and they are dated in several places ,sights are like rocking horse ****e to find so you could get lucky but most probably have to make/copy them ,not an easy task but I know a very good fabricator (you know who you are )It looks like you got a very good gun with the truck ,Bofors parts and accessories are becoming hard to find. I have shell racks, barrel staves, muzzle covers and some other bits and pieces knocking about. I will make some enquires about the C9B to see if it is still where it was ! I have always admired the C9B so its great that a couple have surfaced recently and on the road to resurrection. Rob..................rnixartillery.
  15. A very worthy project indeed ,I wish you luck .You have done well getting the motors with the gun as these are a hard item to find, do you have the seats (3) ? I know of another C9B not too far from here ! Rob...................rnixartillery.
  16. Lauren, I would guess the photo was taken in southern Italy judging by the surroundings ,the pheasant as a weapon was rendered obsolete by the end of 1943 as it was replaced by the 17 pdr. The stowage on the quad roof is spare Ammunition or at least the boxes anyway which I do have in the collection. Rob..................rnixartillery.
  17. Excellent Ad, it just makes Joe public spare a thought briefly and all for a good charity. Rob.....................rnixartillery
  18. Thanks for the offer Terry but I have a Standard 17 pdr in my collection already. At least you have yours under cover and out of the elements which is best for long term preservation. Rob........................rnixartillery.
  19. Very Good Terry ,these 17 pdr's are as common as muck ! Rob..................rnixartillery.
  20. Niels, I have had this image for a few years now but I don't know if you have noticed but this is a mirror image of the original note the cut off bar on the left side of the guns recouperator this should be on the other side in reality , place a small mirror up against the picture and all is revealed ! The pheasant restoration has drawn to a holt at the moment as I am restoring another 3.7" mountain gun. Rob....................rnixartillery.
  21. Hello Graeme. It would appear that you are amongst other Bofors Nuts :nut: you'll feel at home here ! Rob.......................rnixartillery.
  22. Yes It would have a barrel plug and a breech/venturi cover fitted when towed. Rob....................rnixartillery
  23. Yes the back blast is expelled through the venturi and it is pretty impressive baring in mind the size of the cartridge and amount of propellant ! Once the Breech Block is dropped the conventional shell ejectors remove the spent cartridge from the chamber. Rob................rnixartillery.
