  2. Short answer is no unless you remove the fith wheel. or make it unable to tow a trailer. I know that thanks to a old boss of mine when i had a class2 who said "just pop with me to the garadge to pick a unit up. I got 2 miles down the road vosa stopped me and police did me for driving a class1 truck without a licence.

    Safety

Just to add my old sqn medic had two fingers missing from his right hand when a browing 9mm blew up on him. So he practise shooting with hid left hand til the same happen again resulting in him loosing one and a half fingers. He also did suba diving and fell off the boat as was hit by the prop resulting in a steel plate in his head :shake: and he was the medic !! Also on ex in germany with fox we had one that decided it didnt like its oil and dumped the lot in a car park in the black forest. Not good. Reme can out to sort the fox out as reme fited lifted back deck up he didnt secure the hinged deck and it fell down on his hand cutting all his fingers off not a nice sight. Leson lernt always sceure decks when opening them and if possable have someone hold them as well.
  5. I rember doing that as well with the ferrets that we had. we used them for the night shoot. they put a tilley lamp in them so they stood out at night. but one of our sqn "forgot" this gun was pointing up and tryed to shoot the moon  Shame we you think back of all the hard targets on the range we use to fire at. Rember having a sqn shoot at a cheftain all guns firing auto at one hard at the same time we even managed to move the hard target with the fire power.
  6. Yea i heard about the fox doing 100mph but thought it was done with the turret off. And can say as well the look on car drivers faces when we used to pass them on the chester ring road was great

  12. They were used as i have just found out form a mate who was in berlin with them. They were made for berlin as they needed a turreted vehicle for berlin but the russias didnt like the idea of a cheftain driving around berlin so they came up with the 432 and fox turret. hope that answers that one for you.
  13. Always said thay if some litle so and so thinks hes hard cos he carrys a knife or gun. Then let him use the gun by giving him the choice of been use as traget practise by the army or join the army for 3 years but be based in stan for all of the time. We would soon see how hard he was with bullets coming at him as well.
  14. See them on sale again plus a hard back book with all the storys in.

  17. Still see a couple of landing craft moored down between southampton and portsmouth i a ship yard as you go over a bridge on the motorway. Cant remeber the exact location. He also had what looked a a old mtb in there but didn't see that last time i was that way. Google earth location N50deg53'13.56 w1deg17'50.1
  18. As a ex driver/ guner of a fox in service. We found them ok, fast on road Not so good trying to drive in tank tracks off road they were a bit top heavy. And dam cold in a german winter with the drivers hatch acting as nice air scope. The 30mm raden cannon is a god gun easy to use and very acruite(?sp). The rear armour was a pain to get off it was the drivers job to lay down uder the armour and hold it up that the rest ot the crew undid the bolts and it was very heavy. Wolud love to see helth and safety watch a crew do that now. Din't have that much trouble with the gearboxes main thing for us was drivers leaving the handbrake on and driving off. The only thing most people found strange was the postion of the steering wheel and ther onlyheat for the driver was the two little pipes coming off the steering wheel. But when stoped the engine decks were so warm with the engine runing they could dry a sleeping bag out in minuets. That is were most crews sat when waiting for orders. could go on about the good old days with fox but don.t want to boar you all to death. Oups just realised i have repeted myself a bit. Sorry
  19. Don't know if is still there but there use to be a huge storage area Just off the m5 by stroud. It had everything from push bikes to mbts all in full preserve. Plus every bit of kit a man could need including 2 warehouses full of patten 58 webbing and that was only a few years ago. But know most of the warehouse have been turned into industrail units. But think thay still keep a big war collection just incase.
  20. Just got myself another copy of "mailed fist" forgot how good it was. read it all last week.

  22. Looks like a boat lift ramp. With the concrete side walls and track jutting out so that a boat lift could lift the boat out while it is still in the water.
