    Originality

Just my thought. When a vechicle is in service with a unit they mod it to suit there needs. My old unit had a turretless ferret that the oc used, now that is not as it came out the factory. We modded our foxes to suit us with extra bins normal off cheftain plus a extrnal gpmg mount. even some of the spartans had a microwave in them. Plus the reme 4 tonner that had a bar built in. So when they leave the army and go for aution all these bits are removed. So when someones buys them and dos them up back to fctory spec thats not as they were. If i bought a sabre or fox it would be refitted back to the spec it was when it was in my troop. Now some of you may say thays not original but thast how it spent its life. Like how meny of you have sen a fox with a copila mount gpmp. Its not orignal but.
  4. Not jeious much. Would so love a look around her. Been in the one at louth The "Just jane" but didnt do the taxi run in her.
  5. Keep passing this nice old un on the worcester the hereford road by frome hill. Must stop at the cafe one day and find out about it abd the other stuff he has round the back. Or has any one already asked the question.
  6. Yea most of the sabre ones were on the plain. and the land rover with tess kit ones were taken on and around the plain.
  7. Cheers for that saves me trying to figure it out. Sorry for re listing.

  14. Yea it came in handy the artic bin i got mixed up the artic bin was fitted to simiter and sabre. The fox had the otis bin on the back of the turret. Was in "c" sqn (the Cheshire Yeomanry) Queens own yeomanry. Til the big defense shack up they were re rolled with the rmly and made to a Mbt chally 2 regiment. Also put some pics of fox in my gallery. Going though all my old pics at the moment got a far few so will tak ea bit to sort out.
  15. give it a good spray with wd40 leave over night remove nut and turn steering a few times. Had the same problem on a old range rover i had. did that and the joint fell apart. May be worth a try it saves the skin on your fingers.
  16. I had a v8 3.5 ing lpg disco for a few years. Ran great. Only problem i had with the engine was the oil pump gave up and when the light came on i thought "oh bad sensor" and keep driving it made it home about 7 miles before it seized solid. But a second hand engine only cost me £250 and a day two fit. The disco 1 (200/300 series) do rot on the boot floors and around the back doors by the wheel arch and inner wings at the front. All easy to fix. Sold thet one now got a 300 tdi disco but do miss the sound of the v8. As for towing yet no problem. Pulled a 40ton artic with me old v8. And yes mine do get used off road big time.
  17. Could be worst it could of been a Austin:-D ( no offence to any austin owners):iloveyou:
  18. Just looking at the pic of the bits and trying to figure out what you would need a cocking handle ext for. And wonder if the two bars are steaders for the gpmg mount to extend the hight so it could be used for anti aircraft use you would need a cocking handle for that as the level would then be out of reach. just a thought.
  19. Not sure about the two rods and the brackets but the handle is for the cocking level of the gpmg.
  20. May take you up on that Will sort pics out tonight and get them on my photobucket site and put a link to them on here. Off to chester races now to loose the shirt off my back.
  21. Wil dig them out all on the old style pic so need to scan them into the pc. Goy loads of pics will put them up. Two more to tease you with.
  22. It was a un offical mod we did to them using spare spotlight brakets. As you can see they work very well. And looked good on the range with the coax gpmg going as well. It was centre mounted betwwen the two turets so either commander or gunner could use it. We also had the bigger artic bins fitted to the back of the turret.
  23. Thanks had a look at the alvis site but could not see any of the number s on there. shame if thay were scrapped the sabre was the best one in the sqn.
  24. What you have there is the rare land rover anti theft spider. All land rovers are fitted with a spider from new. They normally live in the wing wirrors. There is a replacment spider you can get that is of the none anti theif type. Will find the part number for you and dont worry when you replace the spidr it wil kill off the anti theif one. Oh and hope you get better soon Replacment spider Part no :- 001984362/LRS/WEB/8LEGS/ Just make sure its not one of the non ome ones they look like this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7573530.stm
