  1. lookin'good, by the way, Paul.... those aren't my tyres are they!!!?...... We should be up to collect my wheels/tyres on Saturday 26th June, -tomorrow, if you are still up! .... will ring when I know what time exactly.... but it'll be pm:cool2:
  2. ...the 'curious' plate welded onto the engine cover serves two purposes....... one being obvious -ie. extra armour for what lies beneath, (carburettor, etc)... plus you will notice that the hinge pin is different on one of the covers...... so that in the evet of having to jack-up vehicle on soft ground, pull out the pin, place cover on ground, place jack on cover, - -hey presto, a jack that won't sink..... clever eh?:cool2:
  3. plenty of kerbs.... no need for a sleeper,..... Every time I do a prom, I reckon I upstage just about every other method of 'novelty conveyance'... an R.A.F helicopter came to one I did last year, but had to land a distance away, so nobody got to see it really..... but I took up almost all th driveway hee, hee!:cool2: saracens also make great wedding transport!:shocked::-D
  4. yes, both sides...all the ones I've dealt with as R.E.M.E. Reccy-Mech were marked up both sides....
  5. well I may see you there, then, ... but I doubt I'll be taking the Saracen.... too busy with prom-nights!:cool2:
  6. I like the birds nest in the gun mounting... very cute...... I once saw a mouses nest INSIDE an exhaust manifold..... can't recall whether it was a ferret or a saracen though....
  7. will be wanting some pics posted, Mr Paul...... I just thought, I'm going to be in Longmoor, near Petersfield over the weekend, and should have a bit of 'free-time' possibly Saturday evening, and defineatly Sunday afternoon, I may just be able to whizz up the road a bit further to your place in Guildford.... to give you a little bit of driving instruction on your new toy.... for a little while.... Can you PM me your yards' address and postcode, in case my chap passes on his way back down from Rugby? there may be a possibility we'll be getting the tyres/wheels before then though, gotta speak to my wagon-bloke again tomorrow lunchtime. Mucho grassias Matt:cool2:
  8. ...as for weeing at the side of the road, the only persons legally permitted to do so, are: a) a coach driver, but the coach must have no passengers onboard, the wheels steered toward the curb, and the driver is only supposed to urinate against the lowest part of the tread about to contact the road surface. and b) as someone rightly said earlier, a pregnant lady.:-|

    Paint Vendors

I use Autopaints, of Lowford Hill, Burseldon, Southampton, Hampshire. Very good results, all types of paint, all types of finishes, very, very reasonable cost, excellent results....but remember it's all in the preparation......:-D
  10. ...all we need now is someone to organise a similar event, but for Post-War vehicles.... and preferably in the Hampshire Area!:cool2:
  11. I've already taught her to drive my saracen!,... but she'll only do it* in a large, empty field:D (*drive the saracen that is!!!!:cool2:)
  12. Charlie Broomfield, .... very clever man, he is! shoehorning a V12 27ltr meteor Centurion Tank Engine into a road-legal Rover 3500 bodyshell, (ok, albeit a slightly modified one!):cool2::cool2: truly AWSOME!
  13. ...sorry the text is so small, but please take the time to read it, it's worth the laugh....
  14. ..... I called out to ask what was so amusing.... to which she replied: "You've just GOT to read this!"..... is was an article in one of 'HER' magazines, an article written by a long-suffering partner of a chap who was into his military based hobbies. I'm not normally one for reading womens magazines:readpaper:, but as it was about my hobby, I couldn't resist. But I am one of the lucky ones...my girlfriend, Nikki, shares my love of my big green beastie, that guzzles petrol, and smells of canvas and oil.... The article certainly raised a smile on my face..... see below (that's if it doesn't get removed for copywright reasons!):-D
  15. If you finish the saracen in time, you could take your daughter to her wedding in style!:-D

  24. I try my hardest for you, Monti.... us 'saracen-nuts' must stick together!!:beer:
  25. ....all seems to be going well now, apparently it appears to have been a v.slow, slight leak from the fluid flywheel, which has been cured, also whilst being laid up, the taper pin holding the hydraulic fluid pump had some how worked it's way out slightly, loosening tension on the drive belt..... -no pressure for steering or brakes...... this has now been adjusted and pin seated correctly (just maybe,.... it wasn't installed right when refurbed by REME back in 1983?):-D I'm gonna hassle our club to put on another Overlord 2010 Show, later this year, for my benefit, as my saracen wasn't ready for May this year!, and I missed taking it big time!:cool2:
