  1. Thanks, you got both of my vehicles, the WOA2 and WOT2. Robert Davey
  2. Many thanks, I will try North American in Fleet. As for Nordian, I don't think they exist anymore.
  3. Does anyone know anyone who rebuilds water pumps for Ford V8s? I've just had one fail on the day before I am due to go to Beltring, and have spent the evening fitting the only spare I have. Someone close to Reading would be best. Many thanks. Robert Davey
  4. Try Carburettor Exchange. They were very helpful when I needed help with my truck. Carburettor Exchange, 28f High Street, LEIGHTON BUZZARD. Bedfordshire. Tel. +44 (0)152 537 1369 Fax (0)152 537 1369.
  5. Has anyone ever said anything they later felt was a bit silly? I will start the trend off with mine. I was talking to someone I wanted to meet up with at a show. Me - "You can't miss my vehicle, it's camouflaged"
  6. You can buy disposable overalls that include a hood. Bought a couple at a show earlier this year at £1 each. Might be some at W&P?
  7. Apathy, hmm... I am a member of a Militaria society in Aldershot (nothing to do with military vehicles), meeting once a month. The Sectreatary resigned last year due to ill health. No-one would take over the role of secretary, so my Wife is now the secretary and she is not even a member! We also have a Wine & Cheese evening, which was last meeting. My Wife and myself did all the food and wine, and no-one even offered to help clear away or help with the washing-up. We felt more than a little annoyed afterwards. Apathy, who cares about it?

How about doing a compilation cd of Beltring photos from HMVF members?

    Gavin Birch

Anyone know how I can contact Gavin Birch, author of 'The Wartime Jeep in British Servive'? Just want to help with a caption or 2 in his book.
  10. Is this neat Coca-Cola, or is it watered down with Jack Daniels?
  11. Mick My Daughter Emma lives down your way in Swanscombe, working as a Nurse in A&E in QEH in Woolwich. She wants to join Kent Ambulance as a Paramedic.
  12. I found a photo of a Ford WOT2 in Crete being used by German Paratroops. Robert Davey http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q16/woa2/GermanWOT2.jpg[/img]
  13. Eric I found the document I was looking for. "Wireless Sets No. 19 in Cars, 5cwt 4x4 SRDE", dated May 1944. I just need your Email address to send it to. Robert Davey
  14. Er, yes. What I meant was look for a Green tent behind a WOA2. I'm now going down to W&P on Friday 13th, and No I'm not superstious as I was born on a Friday 13th, many years ago.
  15. Ah, another Computer man. I used to be a Datacentre supervisor, making sure the Computer rooms were usable (for Vodafone). Now voluntarily retired.
  16. I have a Ford 15cwt, and this has to have an MoT before I can tax it. I still get free tax though. If you need a friendly MoT station in the Reading area, try the MoT centre, 127a Loverock Road, Reading, Berks.
  17. I have had experience of Haynes Manuals. I had to replace an oil seal on my Wife's Corsa which involves taking the sump off. The manual said to tap the sump lightly with a soft faced hammer.... An hour later and resorting to using 2 large screwdrivers, a large club hammer and 2 crow bars later, the sump comes off as the old sump gasket had virtually glued the sump on.
  18. I am also going down to W & P on Sunday 15th, and am staying with friends next to where you are - look for a large green tent. Come and say 'hello'. I will be with a WOA2 and WOT2.
  19. Why stay with friends? Because they will look after your Vehicle/Tent/kit while you go walk-about, and you do the same for them. It's not the vehicle owners I don't trust, its the general public, and there have been known thefts from trader's stalls at W & P by criminals.
  20. OK, I'll look something out and Email it to you. Could be a few days as I'm not sure where I filed it after a house move. I know its here somewhere. Robert
  21. Yes, it is either dusty or muddy, depending on the weather. It is only noisy in certain parts of the fields. It is HUGE, and you will take you days to see everything. Loads of interesting stalls, but not many selling wartime British vehicle bits (unfortunately). Stay in an area with people you know. Take a camera with loads of film or chips, and make sure it's charged up. If you find a Ford WOA2 and WOT2 together, say 'hello' as that's me. Robert Davey
  22. If it's any help, a Flathead Ford V8 sometimes runs at a very low oil pressure (5 at best) on tick-over when hot, and I have been assured by a Ford mechanic that this is normal. Provided a V8 has at least some oil pressure (more than 1), then there is nothing to worry about. Perhaps your truck is the same?
  23. It's the fault of everyone who voted Labour last time, not that all the rest of them are much better. "How do you know if a Politician is lying? You can see his lips move". Have you ever looked at Bomber Command losses for 1943? It was normal that if a Bomber was hit, that all the crew was lost. Survivors seem to be a very small minority.
  24. Can I be the one from 'A Bridge Too Far' that carries an umberella instead of a rifle? I have a (deactivated) unbrella already. Robert Davey PS. Don't all Germans say 'Mein Gott' or 'Himmell' when they get shot? The British seem to just say 'Tell my Wife..............'
