  1. Just thinking about this, there are no Rememberance days for events prior to WW1. The Boar War, Napoleonic Wars, Crimean War for example. Will WW1 and WW2 go the way of all past wars and be remembered only every 50 or 100 years?
  2. Is it anything to do with Latrines again?
  3. Clive Many thanks to you for testing my condensers at Purbeck, and hopefully I will meet up with you at Dallas in October. Also many thanks to Mrs Hardyferret for the help. I will get some new condensers and hopefully the car will not play up after a long run again. Sorry about the rain at Purbeck and hope the weekend wasn't too much of a wash-out. Robert Davey
  4. Looks like a knife with one of those blades for getting stones out of horses hooves. Therefore I suggest horse fodder carrier? I checked in RAMC training 1935, and can't find any reference to it.
  5. Wild guess, but it looks like it could contain 2 x 2 gallon cans of water.
  6. I am going on holiday on Saturday 11th August, driving from Reading in Berks to Weymouth in Dorset via Salisbury and Blandford. Anyone know of any vehicle shows, Autojumbles, Carboot sales taking place on Saturday that I can call in at? I know about Purbeck the following week, and I am going to call in there on my way home to meet you people. Many thanks. Robert Davey
  7. Just being picky, but isn't this a C8 rather than a CS8?? It does deserve saving and restoring.
  8. My Daughters gave me a Bumper sticker some years ago - DANGER - Giant Dinky Toy ahead
  9. Anything to do with Ammunition carrying? I seem to remeber something about Mortar bombs.
  10. I have tried pressure washing on my brick drive and it doesn't work. Pressure washers will not remove oil and grease, just dirt. At present I use a degreasant on the oil on the surface, and then just hose it down, but it still leaves a mark. Anyone got any other suggestions?
  11. How much is the entrance for 2 adults, please? Apologies but I can't get a vehicle there as I am calling in on my way home from holiday in Weymouth.
  12. Clive I will be there, but it will be about 11am or so before I can get to you as I have to pack the car in Weymouth. Is this OK? Robert Davey
  13. Reminds me of a trip I made to Normandy about 30 years ago. I had bought a 1939 German Jerrycan, which customs would not belive was just a momento. I had to dig it out of the back of the estate car I was driving, and open it to show it was empty before they would let me pass.
  14. Just saw a bit of a War film on Sky TV. Think it was "Dirty Heroes" set in WW2 - a low budget film. They were using an Austin Champ with 'US ARMY' painted on it as a Jeep. Also, I saw a Dodge Command car made into Rommels staff car in, I think, 'The Desert Fox'.
  15. I sat through 30 mins of Big Brother when my Wife & Daughter insisted on watching it. You arn't missing anything interesting, believe me!!! I stood it for 30 Minutes before I decided that I really must have something better to do than sit on the sofa, even if I was exhausted.
  16. Sounds like something to do with Artillery. 25pdr crew training perhaps?
  17. I have looked through the photos and my opinion is too much of the re-enactors (especially German) and arena events and not enough of the vehicles in the fields. The photos are good on the W&P website, and I enjoyed looking through them, but I would have preferred more softskin vehicles. Anybody else share my view?
  18. Can anyone help? We saw this veteran in the Valentine tank, but don't know his name or his history. Can anyone help with info, please?
  19. My Wife and I went on a 'Ghost Hunt' at the Tank Museum in March this year - my Wife likes the Most Haunted programme on TV. I took several photos during the night, including the 2 here. They were taken a couple of seconds apart, as the lights were out and I couldn't see exactly what I was photographing. One shows an Orb, and I know there was nothing there to reflect the light. My Wife had a bad feeling about this vehicle, and didn't like going too near it. Also during the session, we were given divining rods, and the ones my Wife held were giving a 95% success rate to questions I asked that only I knew the answer to. I am still sceptical about Ghosts, but how do you explain this? http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q16/woa2/P3110028.jpg[/img] http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q16/woa2/P3110029.jpg[/img]
  20. I heard a story that someone had stolen the muzzle brake from the Panther at War & Peace. Anyone know if this is true? Robert Davey
  21. I agree with this suggestion. My Father died in 1984 only 2 days after my first Daughter was born. He always called his cars 'Matilda' (No, I don't know why). I have named my WOA2 'Matilda' to remember him. Robert Davey
  22. Clive Many thanks. The show looks good and I will call in on my way home on Saturday 18th Aug. How do I find you? Robert
  23. What is at Purbeck on 18/19 Aug, as I am driving from Weymouth to Reading on Saturday 18th after a week's holiday.
  24. Clive I didn't see your post until it was too late to bring some condensors to you at W&P. When are you going to attend another show, as I do have a couple of condensors that could do with checking. How about the Dallas Digout in October? Robert Davey
