1. Roadsure won't insure me because I am under 25, so we use Footman James. Back in the days when only my Dad was insured Footman James were also cheaper than Roadsure, or whatever they used to be called, AC Miles or something? Chris
2. As far as I know all of the stuff in the sale has a minimum sales price, which is the least the MoD will take for it. Remember Withams don't own all the stuff they sell, most of it is owned by the MoD. The way to tell is by looking at the stickers with the stock numbr on, e.g. SV688, T1234 etc. If the sticker is blue it is owned by the MoD, if it is red Withams own it. If the bids are close I think they let the item go, if it is way off then they hold it back untill next time. Chris
3. Neil, I had about 1000 litres of contaminated fuel from an accident recovery place, I turned up with my own barrels and emptied theirs. No money or paperwork changed hands. I think it would be like that anywhere you go. Chris
4. I looked them up of course! Have a look at http://www.tanksforsale.co.uk and http://www.gazclub.co.uk Chris
5. Mick, The fuel pump is in a difficult spot, easiest way to remove it is by taking out the fuel tank first. You shouldn't have much trouble finding a new one or a repair kit. There is nothing wrong with the mechanical pump, I would stick with it if I were you. Chris
6. GAZ and UAZ are abreviations for the factories in which the trucks were built, the number e.g. 469 or 67 is the model number of the truck. UAZ is Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod and GAZ is Gorkovskij Awtomobilnyj Zavod. Chris
7. You mean Carl? I bought some bits off him over a year ago, and he was trying to clear the yard back then. They mostly do film work so I would guess they'll just move location. Chris
8. Yep that was the worst batch of 432s I've seen go through the sales, clearly the last ones in the yard. One did have a mattress and some clothes in the back, I wonder who was living in there! There was also one with a birds nest... Chris
9. What about the Stalwart, LARC, and all those Russian amphibians?
10. Enigma has been sporting a kilt at Beltring for the last few years! Chris
11. I have 4 vehicles which I have to pay tax on, this would really help me. Please sign it, although I don't know what difference it will make! Chris
12. I saw it about 18 months ago and it was in the yard in bits, I saw it again at Beltring all in one piece and painted. Chris
13. Andy, I keep tripping over CVRT wheels, and you have enough gearboxes! Chris
14. What about a Chieftain ARRV? One of my favourite vehicles, if only I had the space and money! Last time I saw one of these it was on its way to a muddy puddle to end its days being dragged in and out  http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Quarters/7413/fv4204/chieftainarrv.jpg[/img] Chris
15. What about an FV434? Suitably rare, and very useful for fixing that Stalwart.... you'll also get a lot of friends very quickly, especially friends with broken down vehicles..!
16. They've moved it into the new part of the building now so no more standing around in that freezing old shed. It should be a lot warmer. But it will probably mean we'll have to walk further to the car park, better not buy anything heavy! Chris
17. That is an MTLB, it was at C&C. They have now restored it and I think it is back on milweb again. They also took it to Beltring last year. Chris
18. Neil, I don't think the vehicles on the website are actually purchased untill you order one. I know someone who is in the process of buying a T55 ARV who went over there and picked which one he wanted. You buy from the Czech government, the dealer just brokers the deal. Chris
19. You just need to look at the FD series to see how many years difference there can be. FD is 1970-71. I have a Sabre (Scorpion hull) with a DIS of 1973 and a Fox with a DIS of 1975 and both are FD registrations. It might be possible that L/R allocated chassis numbers when the contracts were placed but it does sound like a mistake to me. Either that or someone swapped the dataplate to try and get free tax.. Chris
20. Military registration numbers are assigned by contract date and not year produced. If the contract was placed in CC for example but deliveries were over several years they would all be xx CC xx but the DIS for the vehicles could be very different. Chris
21. I remember seeing that Chieftain at Beltring, shame we won't be seeing it there again. Welcome aboard. Chris
22. Jerry should have bought my Pig when I was selling it, it was a good one...! Chris
23. We blast delicate parts all the time where I work, at a coatings company. As long as you use good strong masking tape (not B&Q rubbish) and put several layers on delicate parts you should be ok. Chria
24. Put the cash in a padded envelope and send it recorded delivery. I always do it that way, bit too far to pop down and buy bits! Chris
