Mike,
The drivers position is relocated to the flat bit at the front (previously rear) of the vehicle. I can't see how you could mount anything anywhere on this vehicle. It's very strange.
Chris
Some more photos. I still don't really know what it's for. It seems there's a load of hydraulics or pneumatics at the front (which is actually the back) which adjust the suspension.
Chris
Adam,
I have one of these. Back in 2003 when they released them they were considered BER. Only a small number were sold off before they realised that most of them could actually be repaired. I don't think they had replacement chassis sections then, but now they do. There's a company in Turkey I believe who is building replacement chassis for the MoD. They are now doing dataplate rebuilds on them! The MoD do not have enough of them, which means there won't be any more released for quite some time.
Chris
What do you mean by 'current uniform'? DPM trousers? DPM jacket? Green T Shirt? I can't see why the police would be interested in anyone wearing these items. You can get them in every single surplus shop. You can get similar patterned clothes on every high street. I see people wearing these kinds of things all the time, and none of them are in handcuffs.
Karl,
I'd love to help you, but I don't do that many shows, and I'm miles away! I could probably park up a CVRT on your display at Beltring during the day if you wanted though.
Chris
Mark,
What we need is not to reproduce every single Servicing Schedule, these are easy enough to get hold of. What people need is a table which they can cross reference lubricant specifications from.
Here are some examples:
OMD 30 is 5W/20
OMD 55 is 5W/30
OMD 80 is 10W/30
OMD 110 is SAE 30 (straight)
OEP220 is EP90
As for your coolant question, the service schedule I have here (14653) does not give a specification just the capacity, 44.3 litres. Stick some water and antifreeze in it.
Chris
Yes, write a letter to ..... ES (Land) Cencus Team, Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell, Nottingham, NG9 5HA. They are just down the road from me, I could do with making a contact there.
It looks almost like a mini CET, interesting that the rear lights appear to be at the front? Could this be one of those radio controlled prototypes that were being trialled? The yellow box on the barrels is a Chieftain turret bin, often fitted to CVRT turrets too.
Vince,
Never heard of this problem with the tracks damaging the mud guards before. On mine there are spacers between the side of the hull and the mud guard to give it clearance. Are you bolting them flat against each other?
Chris
It was 4:30 in the morning when I posted that, but you know what I meant! Yes it did come out ok, looks good from a distance but still has some battle scars close up.
CW, we are usually camped with the Champ Camp at Kemble as our friend owns the K2.
