  2. Thats right, pre-1960 can be driven on a car licence as long as its unladen. I do recall though that modern car licences dont allow you to do this but I dont know when the change in date was.
  3. That is a lot of burnt trucks in the last picture. I would imagine on the roads towards Dunkirk it was disable the vehicles but once into Dunkirk it didnt matter if vehicles were burnt up creating smoke etc, it was last ditch destroy them.
  4. The inside of the windscreen showing the top hinge and the side fitting for the opening mechanism.
  5. Do you know if its planned to be kept in that condition? It does look very good.
  6. I am going ahead with ordering the paint, when revieved I will paint a separate test piece so that I can contrast it with the canvas sample.
  7. I like the look of the Crossley, I know its not its original condition but the patina looks very good.
  8. I totally get that, colours vary and especially from older pictures etc. I think this is being fuelled by the canvas sample being a chocolate type brown and even in an old photo you would be able to see a contrast if the canvas was darker than the truck. At the end of the day you are right and originally there would have been variations between makers and probably units over paint supply etc. Perhaps my question should rather be can anyone post pictures of restored trucks that have been painted brown that are fitted with a canvas so I can get an idea of what other restorers have done in the past?
  9. Since rubbing down more of our Commer we are finding a lot more brown paint under the later postwar Greens that have been applied over the years. Thanks to Richard F's advice I can get a good SCC2 mix of paint and I have now got a sample piece of Brown Canvas from RCH. I have been trying without much luck to find photos of trucks either original or restored painted in SCC2, I want to see what shades of brown canvas are used as I think my sample is a little dark. If you have any pics could you post them on here?
  10. I have been trying to contact Warpaint, from the website it won't give me access to email them and upon trying the number '01233 820219' I just get the dead tone? Does anyone have an email address for them or can confirm the telephone number?
  11. Sometimes its hard to simply understand the scale of what was left behind, so so many vehicles.
  12. Some nice vehicles being used, look forward to this film being released.
  13. Sorry Richard, are you saying you have a windscreen? What about K.18547? The book gives a number before the description and one at the end.
  14. Hi Richard, Its a single piece windscreen but the frame is in 2 pieces (upper and lower frame). The parts book gives it as: Windshield Assembly - M-500-39-04 It does then list all the components within that assembly.
  15. This is what the lower frame section looks like, lots of rust with both corners completely rotted out and crumbling.
  16. What a nice looking show and plenty of variety in the vehicles on display. At the current state of everything its lovely to see vehicles out and about again!
  17. That is very useful Wally, I am just about to refloor our body and just treating not painting would save time.
  18. We are off to our local timber yard in the next couple of weeks to have a look through their offcuts barns, I am going for Ash for the bed of our truck but with so many other hardwoods that they have we may look at some others if they are a little cheaper. Lets face it, our trucks won't be doing hard graft or carrying heavy loads anymore so any hardwood would probably do depending upon its availability.
  19. I take my hat off to you, it looks superb.
