  1. Could probably write an essay on this but at a basic level, my view is that us MV owners do it more for the fun and because we like quirky vehicles. It can be good to perhaps put some kit on which 'goes' with the vehicle, but down to every last detail? I suppose that depends on what you're trying to achieve. At the end of the day, for us, the vehicles are the things we should 'dress up'. So long as we keep this old metal preserved and on the move, as they are important pieces of history, that's all that matters? We get the same level of enjoyment out of them regardless of what we're wearing or what our main interest is. Our vehicles go out during the show season, and occasionally get a drive during the winter. It's all about driving, enjoying and showing them to joe public. It's worth it for the stares and smiles you get from little kids! Don't know if that contributes much!
  2. Thanks Timbo, as my dad said, once you reach his age you don't want to be crawling underneath vehicles restoring them before you can enjoy them. May as well buy a good one and go straight out and enjoy it. Personally I just think he's a bit soft :-D. Alien, that's a very good point. It is indeed. The stuff in our filter was a grease-like orange muck. Makes me think that it's sat without any petrol in for a long time and what was left in there has dried up? Unfortunately I can't get up to the unit today but I'll see if Bannister's have any plugs. To be honest two jerrycans into a tank full of fumes isn't enough anyway. Best regards, Lewis
  3. Thanks a great deal for that Chris, I noticed when I took the filter off, the fuel wasn't exactly what you'd call clear. A new set of plugs will definitely be on the list. Hopefully in the next few days we can do a little work to her, I'll let you know how we get on. Best regards, Lewis
  4. Thanks for those replies guys, for some reason they've always attracted me. Wouldn't mind a Zil 131 or a Kraz 255 either! :cool2:. The Zil on Milweb at the moment for £1500 is tempting! :-\. Best regards, Lewis
  5. Hi Chris, Relatively empty! :undecided::-D. If I remember right dad and I talked to you at W & P a few years ago about buying a CVR(T), well finally that goal has been reached. Everything on it is pretty good, the pictures don't do it justice. Having a few problems with its running at the moment, doesn't seem to want to idle. Runs beautifully when on the main carb jet. I cleaned the fuel filter out yesterday and as you'd expect that had a load of 'gunge' in. So that would suggest the idle jet is blocked. Have you ever worked on the carb on yours without taking the top plate off? Best regards, Lewis
  6. Here's 'the beast' back at the farm safe and sound on Saturday afternoon. Thanks and regards, Lewis
  7. Should be able to take the Ferret, that's quite a drive in the Spartan :-(. Filling out the form now. Regards
  8. Hi all, Just out of curiosity what do you think the average price for a UAZ 469 should be? They look a fun little truck, something a bit different to a Landy as well. Regards
  9. I want to see a few videos of this beast put on YouTube when it's finished! Should be capable of going up the side of a house! Regards
  10. Light dusting here yesterday, been praying for nice weather because we're going to pick the Spartan up tomorrow. Can't wait! Hopefully the field should dry out this week ready for a few practice drives :cool2: Regards
  11. Hey all, if anyone sees a Spartan going along the M1 tomorrow on the back of a red truck, it's ours! Regards

  14. Hi all, Dad wants to know, anyone who has been for their H licence test, can you give us any ideas on what sort of questions are asked, and any tips on passing the test? Best regards, Lewis

  18. Haha that is great Lee, with all this terrorist business you can understand why they were curious!
  19. Hi all, Recently we had a rather strange day in which Look East news got in touch, asking to come and see the Ferret. Here are the results! You might need to skip the first minute or so of the video to cut to the action. Best regards, Lewis
  20. Surprised nobody has said the T-34 really, that's a close contender and so is the Conqueror, but the Cent has to be my favourite
  21. Here's a good one: Regards, Lewis
