  1. We had exactly the same problem, would crank all day long but would not fire. Remove solenoid unit and clean and refit and all was fine. R

  4. I like others have been watching as the photos and details have been uploaded on the auctions website for the Littlefield collection. I was trolling through the other day and amusing myself when out of the corner of my eye I spied a detail and had to flick back to check again. Sure enough, well to me anyway, on the page with the two Lynxs side by side the right hand one if you look very closely at the head on shot has a very fain marking. I have looked a number of times and believe it to be the standard British military registration format and is as far as I can see it is 90 BT 05 Here is the link t the vehicle http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?SaleCode=LC14&ID=r0005&Order=alphabetical&feature=&collection=&grouping=&category=Cars Was the lynx ever trialed in the UK?   5. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread tonight. I had an awful day at work and have insomnia as a result. Right stressed. I love it. One question in my mind, why is there such a massive hitch at the back? It looks out of scale with the rest of the trailer. Were they daisy chained together with other types, I may have missed something explaing this i think. R

  8. Recently a Land Rover 110 was featured in a Withams auction. It was a bit unusual in as much as it had been modified to drive in water to quite a depth. It was based on a Station Wagon 5 door vehicle but was far removed from what left the factory. In fact it was such an oddity that it featured in the March 2014 issue of Military Machines Internaional on page 75. The vehicle bore a number plate front and rear that was typical of what we expect to see, it was 14 RN 32. No one seems to have noticed but the military data plate shows it started life as 78 KE 79. Does anyone care to comment on this? R

  12. I just wanted to clear up a detail that I asserted in my previous post that was wrong. the Stormer track does has an angle to the rubber pads, as shown in his image. Apologies for my mistake R
  13. Well, pull up a pew and lets have a chat. The basic CVRT powered by the J60 and the Stormer powered by the Perkins are what we have at work. I think I am one of the few people who has access to both side by side. Today at work I took a few minutes to try and answer the questions thrown out by Mr Duffy The first picture shows a section of "new" Stormer track, the one with the chevron pattern (that you can't see) laid beside a Spartan which has barely used track. So, observations, the two of them appear to have links that are the same length overall, but we know that is not what we were asked. I struggled to find a measuring tool with horns long enough to get down into the contact points in the tracks In the end we have an approximation until I get a better measuring tool. What is clear is that the CVRT has a shorter slot for the drive sprocket than the Stormer, it is only a few millimeters but it is obvious when side by side. My determination is that Stormer track will turn on a CVRT drive sprocket, but a CVRT track would bind up on the sprockets of a Stormer. As far as total height of the links the Stormer track is much thicker and has a parallel rubber surface whereas the CVRT track has a rubber surface that has an angle to it. I would suspect that anything more than shunting around the yard and the thicker Stormer track would bind under a sponson somewhere. You could likely cheat a bit by using Stormer drive sprockets on a CVRT hub with Stormer track (I think they are the same but will have to check) but the overall height of the links would still be the concern. I hope this helps those concerned. I will try some better measurements of the coming days. Robin
  14. Mike, how many of these units are there in the scrap yard, roughly? More than 5? more than 20? There is a market for the whole vehicle even in that state. Tony, yes many items such as lights at rear car are different, but major components like drive train seem to be of the standard type Roadwheels are top of our list as Tony says many small items also like mudflaps. I guess I should go photograph what we want and email you Mike? R

  18. I am glad Al said he could not see it as that is what I felt when I first looked at it. Now that I have gone back again I can see it, somewhat faint mind you. The 66 is the part I am having the most difficulty seeing. Can anyone blow the image up? R
  19. I am very curious as to how you plan to go with paint and prep work. Where the sides end on the bottom you have turned them with a flange and they sit on top of the chassis. That to me is the natural point for rust to form between the two. It is why the bodies on the M series trucks rot away because they are a multi layer lamination. I was wondering if you plan to use seam sealer between the two, it is after all a paintable material. Not meant as any kind of criticism, just curious. Robin

  21. That is really neat. The best part of it is that you satisfy the credo of "no new holes and nothing welded on" so you have not defaced the original vehicle and it can be removed if need be. Very smart indeed R

  24. Dear Gishey, be you a Miss or Mrs or Mr! Welcome to the world of MV ownership. I am unsure of your location but parts are around and available. Looks like you got a fairly basic vehicle and need quite a bit. Because of the dimensional stability of a Land Rover there are body panels from older vehicles that will fit in various place if you really wanted to and dont mind lack of originality. Why dont you tell us where you are and what your looking for and perhaps I can point you to some people out your way who may have parts like door uppers and tailgate etc. Regards Robin
