  1. Hi Thanks for the response, had a closer look at the carb, it does have a hole for the vacuum advance (originally thought that it was a a blind recess). See attached photo The thread in this hole is wierd. Just taken a bolt of an old Solex P40 carb which is 0.308" OD, 25TPI, which is a very tight fit, don't want to overtighten as it will probably damage the thread on the carb. Anyone know what thread it actually is ?
  2. Hi Sille me... Just found the answer to the length (38" of 1/8"OD-22SWG tube) in the parts list (was looking in the wrong place), also listed is clip to cylinder head and clip to pushrod cover. End of pipe goes to carb (not inlet manifold), Can't see the connection on the carb. Cheers Richard
  3. Hi My Bedford MWC has been fitted with a Lucas DVZ6A (Type P34) distributer. The distributor has a vacuum advance. What is the routing of the vacuum advance tube and where exactly does it connect on the inlet manifold ? (length wuld be good) Cheers Richard
  4. Hi Just refitted the king pins on my MWC, what grease nipple should be on the lower king pin arm as you won't get a grease gun on when a standards size nipple is fitted. Is it a special nipple ? (any ideas where I can get two) or is there and extension piece, if so how long?. Thread is 1/4 NPT (I will be able to make them) Cheers Richard
  5. Hi Haven't posted for a while... I have been plodding on with the axles.... New King Pins shims made and fitted
  6. Hi Tom I am sure you will make a good job of it, just like your MWC. I have sent you nigel's contact details Cheers Richard
  7. Thanks All That makes sense.. Forgot that there was a supporting bracket on the Offside chassis rail  I take it that there is a cover plate that just drops into the hole, is this clipped in ? Also now know where the 'wedge' shapes plate goes (Attached to the longitudinal handbrake support) as this came in a box of bits. Cheers Richard
  8. Hi The Master Brake Cylinder is on the far right hand side, so it won't be an easy access Cheers Richard
  9. Hi This floor pan came with my MWC The slot on the left is for the handbrake, what is the other big hole for (A Scammel Conversion ?) Cheers Richard
  10. Great show, nice to see the Royal Armouries Sexton at the show. On Friday the inside of my 9x9 was lit up by one of the lightning flashes, the lightning display was impressive Cheers Richard
  11. Hi Not for the A14, the in-vehicle mount looks like (must get round to fitting it in my vehicle some time). On the underside tther are 4 rubber mounts The in-vehicle A13 has 4 pillars (very very over engineered !) and looks like this Cheers Richard
  12. Hi Not a Larkspur radio mount that I know of, possibly for a teleprinter to go with a C11/R210 conbination ? What are the dimensions of the tray ? Cheers Richard
  13. Thanks Richard I wasn't aware of the 20tpi British Cycle Thread (only ever used the 26tpi one) Thread is 20tpi (looks like 60 degree) Inner thread diameter is 0.637" and thread depth is 0.025" This makes it as CEI 11/16" 20tpi thread, so just got to find/make a nut see http://www.motalia.com/Html/Charts/cycle_chart.html for CEI thread datails Cheers Richard
  14. Hi Does anyone know the the thread that is used on 1940's lucas generators ? According to the parts list it is 'special' which probably means that it is an odball size.' I had to cut mine so that generator could be taken apart to be repaired, so I am after a replacement. It is not 5/8 UNF (18tpi) , it is more like M17 fine (20tpi), if it is this any ideas where I can get one Cheers Richard
  15. Hi Several people on the forum have been very helpful, I normally post thanks in that thread or by PM, however on some of the other forums I belong to there is specific thanks section. Any thoughts ? , Could be a new heading in the Community Service section Cheers Richard
  16. Hi Having removed the incorrect rear bumber off my MWC, I need to fabricate two rear extensions like these Please could someone supply me with the correct dimensions based on the datum shown in the first picture. Also after the loop brackets that fit on them Cheers Richard
  17. Are the vision blocks the same as a Ferret ?, as I might have a spare one of those Cheers Richard
  18. Took loads of bits to the grit blasters Started looking at the cylinder head, this will be totally stripped, valves re-seated, replace core plug at rear. Serious de-carbonising needed...
  19. Floor panels looking very good, what primer are you using? The only part of the floor pan I have is the one for handbrake, I will have to make a complete new floor pan in due course. Cheers Richard
  20. Hi Now that I know what the power pump is (but not how it is mounted or driven). I have been looking at the hand pump. There appears to be two types of pump Semi – reversible hand pump (like a bilge pump) not sure of the size possibly K2 ? And these (photo copied from this forum) Having had a look at the photos I can find on line it looks like I should be using the ones in the attached photo. What size are these ? Also is the tubular part for a pump handle? Can’t see how they work... Has anyone go two for sale ? Cheers Richard
  21. Hi Thanks for the input, I have restored my PTO, seehttp://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?55995-Bedford-MWC-restoration/page6 Quite happy with the result Cheers Richard
  22. PTO Assembled today... Control rod details, handle is made from a de-chromed tap handle, and the ball is made from a small doo handle. The thin rod is pulled up so the the lever can me nove to engage the PTO, it is sprun loaded so that it stays in place just about to start on the pump drive shafts (still looking for the pump)
  23. Hi Thanks for the photos, very nice tooling , I bet they are heavy. Using steel that thickness means that the pressed plate does not tend to warp. Cheers Richard
  24. HI The 'rib' pressings look very good, what tooling did you use for these ? Cheers Richard
