  1. PTO re-assembled I think that the oil seal compression pad should be held in with studs and locknuts (will make some 1/4 BSF studs to suit) Made one of the control rods, just need to turn up the other and make a handle Also made a re-usable bypass filter as the ZS1 cartriges are hard to find. The base of the ZS1 is cut out so that the insert can be fitted. The insert consists of a 2.75" OD copper tube (eBay £9.99), a shaped end cap made from some scrap brass sheet, and a 2.75" drain plug (£5 from a local agricultural hardware suppliers). The tube in the picture was linked to a small compressor so that I could pressure test it (no leaks at 4Bar/60PSI). Apart from the old case of the ZS1, the flange on the inside of the ZS1 cartridge is re-used as the two brass pipe fittings screw into this. Inside the ZS1 there is a paper cartridge with metal end caps, the top end cap is trimmed in diameter and re-used so the replacement cartridge (from a Mercedes) fits nicely, the spring on the base of old ZS1 cartridge that holds it in place is re-used to make sure the replacement cartridge seals nicely. Little bit of filler at the base, undercoat on... Just need to paint it black. Overall very pleased with the result
  2. Hi A bit of a long shot, does anyone have any for sale, these will be used on my MWC restoration also need a Mono pump SC1 and other tank associated bits Cheers Richard
  3. New shafts for PTO Hope to re-assemble tommorrow
  4. Chassis surgury done, incorrect rear bumper removed, slowly getting ready for the chassis to be grit blasted after blasting. I can see how best to 'patch' in the rear extensions, fortunately they are not structral on a an MWC as there is no tow bar.
  5. Hi Just a thought... Many Landrovers use 10 spline half shafts, don't know what size yours is, the end flange on yours looks very similialr to a Lightweight. I will see if I can get some meaurements of a Landrover one tommorro. Cheers Richard
  6. Thanks Peter Additional photos and dimensions would be very usefu, I assume it was your restoration I was looking al. As Jeremy says they must restrict access during a re-build. Cheers Richard
  7. Hi Apart from banging your knees on the pintle (one reason why I removed mine). The second (main) reason was I am sure it is illegal to have a projection in front of the bumper, can't find the regulation at the moment, something to do with bull bars. In a similar vein, the rear towing pintle does protrude past the rear bumper but not the bumperettes, as the bumperettes are part of the rear bumper system, this is permissible. Hope I haven't opened a can of worms. Cheers Richard
  8. Hi I saw this on a restoration blog (sorry I can’t recall the thread). The picture shows some form ‘engine bay pans’. I haven’t seen these on any other restoration blogs. Were these standard?, if so does anyone have any dimensions of them ? Cheers Richard
  9. Thanks Jeremy - That makes sense.. Failrly lazy weekend. Gearbox rebuilt, selection of all gears is nice and posative , feels good (now need finish the rest so I can re-fit it :-D)
  10. Hi Firstly – nice restoration – just started on my MWC – working out the cab detail as the truck had a modified one and was interested in the photos of the doors Secondly – Radios I noticed that you have put a WS19/WS19HP in yours, there are some installation photos and notes in Wireless for the Warrior (Volume 2 Pages W.S.19-75 to W.S.19-77). If you don’t have a copy, PM me your address and I will send you a copy of the relevant pages. Also in Wireless for the Warrior Volume 1, there are some photos of installations in of a WS12/R107 combination in a Morris Wireless Truck. The WS12/R107 combination was used in many radio trucks but I don’t have any photos of this combination in an MWR. Cheers Richard
  11. Tank off ... Chassis ready for surgury... Rear bumper to be removed and replaced with correct chassis extensions. Also found a couple of extra brackets on the near side chassis rail where the spring hanger is for the rear wheels, any idea what these are for ? ,possibly pump mounting ? (I dont know how the mono pump is mounted, any pictures anyone ) Back to gearbox tommorrow (I will be rebuilding these in my sleep soon !)
  12. Frustrating day.... Rebuilt the gearbox but, found a crack in the gearbox housing :banghead: Forunately I have a spare gearbox housing, so all apart again (I seem to be getting two sets of images, even though I have only up loaded one, wonder why this is ??)
  13. Hi These have now gone to a new home (Moderators - please close thread) Cheers Richard
  14. Hi Engine out Chassis lowered ready to take tank off Then I can sort out the back end and get it grit blasted, in the mean time axles etc to refurb Cheers Richard
  15. Hi Got them from PastParts, thanks for the input Cheers Richard
  16. Hi I have six 10.5x16 tyres that need a new home. Three are definitely OK One is probably OK Two have a bit of damage to the inner rim, so may be OK for spares Tread pattern are all slightly different These are located in Fareham, Hants and are free, but you will need to collect them PM me if you are interesed Cheers Richard
  17. Hi Thanks.. I will drop them a line, will let you know how I get on Cheers Richard
  18. Hi Richard They are for a Bedford MWC , definitely 1/2" UNF Cheers Richard
  19. Hi Any idea where you can get 1/2" UNF Brake Bleed Screws in the UK ? I am after 4 of them Cheers Rihard
  20. Thanks Wally, most useful, at least I know what look out for and what size it is. I assume you plug it in when the engine is not running and the pully wheel on the front of the engine crank shaft is modified in some way. Some photos of the mounting block
  21. Hi Into Rubber this week (if you include tyres as well) :cool2: ... Finally got the last rim separated after borrowing some heavy duty kit. A friend came and took off the tyres. All the tyres are 10.5x16 (three are OK, one is definitely scrap, and two more are possibly OK, so all/some of these will be looking for a new home in due course). According to my manual the tyres should be 9.00x16, but a lot of MWC’s in the pictures I have seen the tyres appear to be bigger, optical illusion ?. Also made the rubber covers for the front and rear brake plates (the covers that allow access to the brakes). Part numbers 1048714 – COVER, rear brake adjusting handle hole 1048692 – COVER, front/rear flange plate inspection hole Plus the first of the 8 shock absorber arm rubber bushes The the multi layer molds took some time to make and get the registration right, now I have these I can make a few more as required. Overall very pleased with the result Cheers Richard
  22. Hi From the length of the levers, it would appear that this would have been operated in the same was as the 'standard' tyre compressor Cheers Richard
  23. Wally I dont have that handbook, didn't know it existed, this will be invaluable for my MWC restoration. Do you have a copy, and is there any chance I could have a copy please ? The PTO (minus pump) looks like this the 'U' supports sit between the chassis Standard PTO Attachment, with control in cab I assume that the double chain drive drives the pump which I assume is mounted on tha near side chassis The control mechanism sit in the cab, there should be another lever on the top Cheers Richard
  24. Thanks Wally A copy of the parts list (if you have it would be very good), a separate parts list makes sense as there is very little MWC specific items in the parts manual I have. Is there a separate MWC users manual/drivers manual ? as the 'drivers handbook' although it says it covers the MWC has nothing about engaging the PTO, but the MWR is mentioned. I think that my tank was made by AP Butterfields in Ripley, but there is no makers mark or ID's on it. Cheers Richard
  25. Hi Thanks for the input on the pumps, some phots would be good The only thing I could find on the net was this http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Mono_Pumps With a nice cut away picture (no reall idea of size) Cheers Richard
