  1. It seems to have taken most of the day to get them scanned & uploaded (sometimes as slow as 10kps). Got in a mess trying to get them in sequence, so labelled them & uploaded again so I think now they are in the right order. Hope they are of interest, but at least this is first hand info not just someone's opinion from a book or a web page.
  2. Richard I'll try & scan all the vehicular entries that includes the Mechanization Board that replaced the Mechanical Warfare Board in April 1934.
  3. Richard thank you. One could have illuminating posts just following one particular subject, I've just tried to give a spread. But there are significant entries on Cyprus, Balkans, Trans-Jordon etc. These may have been the inter-war years but they were not years of peace. The entries on the disarmament conferences & Germany's approach after the withdrawal of BAOR (the first one) are all clues as to what was to come.
  4. Enjoying teasing out nuggets of history from these Chronologies. I already have similar for 1858 to 1912, the new acquisitions are for 1925 to 1936. None of these should be dismissed because they do not cover a World War, as one travels forward through them one can sense a feeling that preparations for something that was brewing were being made & the War Office were not totally unprepared. I have selected just one extract from each year to give a flavour of changes & have placed them in chronological order.
  5. I'm not familiar with the electrics of a Hotchkiss. But most distributor capacitors are in the region of 0.2mfd. So I would suggest any capacitor that fits in the space that is designed for a distributor & is new should do fine. If you want me to test any then send them to me with a SAE.
  6. Also bear in mind there is DOT 5.1 that is compatible with DOT 4, but not DOT 5 http://www.epicbleedsolutions.com/resources/faq/difference-between-dot4-and-dot51-brake-fluid/
  7. Ok thanks for that. 15 BK 18 was sold off on 27/7/67 for £70. So it must have been quite a good one, although now it has lost the original wings (& headlights)
  8. Ok never mind. They sent me a picture some time ago but it doesn't include the registration, just like to keep tabs on the survivors. I shouldn't think the sea air has done it any favours. I used live across Torbay in Teignmouth, I can remember as a small boy exploring a large gun in place on The Ness headland.
  9. Oh excellent, I did help them out with a track rod end some years ago. Have you got any pictures of it you could share please? Or at least the reg I know it is 15 BK ??
  10. If I may add to this, my catalogue has been annotated on page 44 with a few prices paid. 639 £620 642 £500 650 £320 658 £540
  11. Do they still have the Mk 1 Humber Pig I wonder? It only shows up on one photo: http://www.brixhambattery.net/413614133
  12. Hmm yes waiting to see who would spot that one! Ok done it now thanks
  13. email sent, do you now want to edit out your email address from the post to avoid it being harvested?
  14. Doug I don't actually watch the arena display, I find access to view the reserve collection up close is of more interest to me. But most of the arena vehicles (preserved or in-service) can be viewed up close during certain periods. I take a vehicle to display & find that the public IQ is pretty high compared to the average vehicle/steam show, I suppose the entry fee is something of a filter.
  15. Although a "bracket" it looks to me yes more like clamp. Given the DMC of W8 & the NSC 1095 the only thing that seems to fit for both is for mounting some "weapon" to a Wheelbarrow such as Pigstick or shotgun. I have the EMERs for Mk7 & AESPs for Mk8 with the ISPLs for both but can't for the life of me find any of them at the moment.
  16. Doug if you are into armour then I think Bovington's Tankfest in June is a must. It has developed into a comprehensive & professional display of armour that is always a sell out. It is quite a development from the old Battle Day event (although personally I preferred the informality of the earlier events)
  17. Yes Laurence http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15g-Castrol-Red-Rubber-Grease-Brake-Caliper-Fluid-Mini-Tin-BUY-2-GET-5-OFF-NOW-/131714656463?hash=item1eaace28cf:g:WqsAAOxyu~lSTrTO
  18. Indeed & this type of interspace brush is particularly useful for small awkward recesses & also for dislodging spider's nests in the top corners of window panes. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CTS-Super-Slim-Interspace-Brush-/301644990391?hash=item463b7147b7:g:1qkAAOSwKtVWvcsK
  19. Jak I've just checked my database I see I have Army Code No.40081 CES. Cooking, Outfit, Field, No.5. May 1985 Does that sound like it?
  20. Sean yes well untangled. I've run it through my system & confirms that but I note that it was used by New Zealand in addition to the UK. With MEXEC33811 it is tempting to assume that is the Military Engineering Experimental Establishment, Christchurch & this represents a design pattern or drawing number in the same way as the FVRDE signified a design/drawing with the prefix FV.
  21. John I have searched for that, as others have no doubt tried, but come up with nothing. I have found 91,524 items within that NSC & 176,137 Brackets none of them that share those two parameters that are British. Nor could I get any sense from items that included the manufacturer's number 33811. Zooming in, as I neglected to do originally, it looks as if the NSN is actually 1095-99-2505-026 (rather than 1095-99-2503-021) That gave a result as "Cancelled without replacement"
  22. I use DOT-4 in my Wolf & trailer, what you need to avoid introducing is DOT-5 which is silicone.
  23. There is RSG-6 http://www.southhams.com/directory/salcombe-bunker-tours-art-and-party-venue-220.html I don't know what access is available particularly out of season. When it was operational the direct number used to be Kingsbridge 2611 but I'm not meant to know that :cool2:
  24. Just be careful because some of these policies do not cover you if you use it to travel to work in it or even an occasional use doing work for a charity.
  25. I try to rely on the military spec laid down in the Servicing/Maintenance Schedule, if I can't get that match it to the SAE spec rather than rely on a civilian do-it-yourself book. What trailer do you have?
