  1. Brilliant Jon, wish I'd thought of that:D
  2. I see there is a thing sat on the last post of all the threads I've looked at. So serve you right PZN for being the last poster. Doooh! PS Well you had uniform dating on yours, now it on me its mutated into geometry. PPS Its gawn, I went to check on the ends of other threads, came back here & a different one has attached itself. I feel about as confused as a dog chasing a spot from a laser beam. Time to leave & get on with something useful I think.
  3. There you are Gary it's the last post that the thing goes for:D
  4. It's moved! I made two posts earlier & advert things clung on my posts. But I've just looked at my earlier post on this thread & it has gawn. So I think it has latched onto you Gary as a later poster. I imagine it likes to target latest posts, so maybe when I post this it will draw the fire from you Gary. So I don't know if one of these things lives on each thread looking for the latest post or whether there are several. Anyway here goes I'll see if it targets this post.
  5. On the basis of the NSN these Shoes, gymnasium seems to point to Navy only. Although there is a design spec from the Defence Clothing & Textiles Authority, this is of course tri-service & the only service mentioned is MOD(NAVY) In the summer my daily footwear is a pair of Shoes, training, fitness MT002 these are Army in grey/green & more substantial. In the 1950s Clothing Regulations under Physical Training Instructors there are Shoes, canvas, rubber sole CD 0610-28 but there is no indication as to their colour.
  6. Robin I thought I posted some scans of the relevant FAESP about 1-2 years ago.
  7. Robin not quite sure what you mean by "paint code" 1. Like a dress code, the way the vehicles were painted. 2. The NSN, but there will be different NSNs according to paint format & quantity. 3. BSC number. 4. Paint code used on record card. In answer: 3. BSC381C 361 Light Stone 4. S1 Colour Code = Sand = S Type = Matt = 1 or if disruptive pattern = 4 or IRR disruptive = 7
  8. I good do some close ups to help with positioning if you want.
  9. The WMIK IPC only shows the bonnet for fitting the vegetable basket but the bits you are after are in the main Wolf IPC. Photos, I'm afraid as the IPC itself won't sit on the scanner as it is 3.5" thick.
  10. Joris in Land Rover circles, Dunsfold says it all. We know that it is Philip (& together with his father Brian) have built up the worlds largest collection of rare & prototype Land Rovers. They have done more than anyone in the world to promote the preservation & archiving of Land Rover history. I thought I should state the benefit of having such a notable member belong to the forum, I'm sure it is his modesty that restrains him from self promotion. But there are an awful lot of other people who don't use their name either.
  11. Robin, I believe four SB401 Shorlands were purchased direct in 1982 & some may have been acquired from a neighbouring country a few years later.
  12. Anyone of course can search youtube to find these clips, but I have compiled a series of clips that show sustained views of various Shorlands including Mk3 APC, SB301 & SB401 in the clips below. The first clip is so dedicated to viewing the Shorland it suggests it might be an enthusiast behind the camera! The last three clips seem to be Police vehicles, one without a bumper & a very wobbly front wheel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoS8Y57h6v8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS84_n44QsI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8FJy6UdGUA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7vR5mF5-k0 I have seen some Series 5 APCs & APVs with the tall observation turret which was also supplied to another country in the region. But the images so far have been blurred & fleeting, unless anyone has found a decent clip? or more Shorland clips?
  13. Justin welcome. So how are those two Humber Pigs these days? There were some pictures posted on the forum a few years ago, have they been restored? Do you know if there were ever any Shorland armoured cars on the island? I thought I saw one at the airport when I was there in 1974.
  14. David I'm afraid what you have got is far more modern that what I thought you had.
  15. David I assume what you have is Kits, lighting, penthouse, 24V, portable? I have the Technical Handbook in EMER POWER F 230/2 unfortunately there is no circuit diagram or answer to your query. But very often the -ve & +ve lines are floating with respect to earth & the third cable is earth. In the case of the fluorescent type the earth is also connected through the screening braid for RF suppression.
  16. Yes it is indeed. This one is the third of four Pigs on page 10 of this thread: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?21006-Otterburn-range-wrecks/page10&highlight=otterburn+pigs Tony I have no idea, although you can see I did ask Steve about them on page 9.
  17. Yes & a bit further for me, I know what you mean. They would attract more people if there was the conviviality of an over night stop. I went last year for the first time & although I enjoyed it, these one day efforts are only half the fun. I think there was a questionnaire about whether you might want an overnight stay. It seemed a little naive in its structure as the people who are there are relatively local & perhaps not bothered about camping. The survey is distorted against those who haven't come but would do so if there was overnight camping.
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2099187/Bodies-21-German-soldiers-buried-alive-WW1-trench-perfectly-preserved-94-years-later.html
  19. Letsbe Avenue Mr Plod, what are your MV interests then?
  20. I understand & accept the reasons for it but am intrigued as to the mechanism. If I say words like radiator, ebay, cat biscuits on melted cheese on bacon, you know the the maple kind etc I wonder how many links that would generate? Would it be patriotic to say ebay several times as I know "it" likes to pick up on seeing ebay. Does that generate income per se when it sees things that are sold on ebay? Yes ebay I've said it again (just trying to help) So is there a pay off every time ebay for instance is mentioned or does one have to go to ebay to generate a credit to the forum, or is it the result of a purchase? I'm on Firefox & my security settings include "Tell websites I do not want to be tracked" does that screw up the credits for the forum? I just don't like a web site to know the site that is my bank or I like to feed Fenton my dog cheesy bacon, you know the maple kind etc I only ask out of fascination, it is not to belittle the systems in place PS I see it highlighted ebay four times then it gave up. So I suppose that is to stop patriots posting long message composed of ebay, ebay etc to click up credits?
  21. Ok Wayne not seen that pic before so those are Mk 3
  22. Wayne I wasn't aware of the article, I don't take those magazines. What sort of Shorlands were they?
  23. Phil that configuration of Azure Blue (BSC3181C 104) & Signal Red (BSC381C 537) is for LLAD & field flights. Top left hand corner is the unit number. Lower right is the sub-unit & vehicle identification. Not an Army sign as described on e bay!
  24. Cart, Water Tank, Mark I was introduced in 1891.
  25. Yes this suggestion is actually in West Sussex as you specified Military Vehicle Day at Amberley Museum Sun 20 May http://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/events Bit silly that they can't just display the list of events, you have to download a small pdf to read what's on.
