  1. Sorry Gerry nothing on 49 YH 39. The nearest was 49 YH 24 on 13/11/57 but that of course has no relationship to yours, but it does show my few catalogues only cover a tiny proportion of what was registered. There were particular sale days, 2nd or 3rd day generally, with Jeeps in big batches. But there a few Army ones slotted in here & there. The RN & civil licensed Jeeps are not in batches but just here & there, no doubt reflecting the small numbers issued.
  2. Yes I think you are right I have just read my V112G/R, never had to worry about with the Pig being under weight :-D
  3. The nicest thing anyone has ever said to me
  4. I would have thought that it is not quite heavy enough to claim exemption on the basis of unladen weight I'm afraid.
  5. Yes I know that Richard, the FVRDE Design Spec was issued in 1951. I just added the date bit as anyone reading the original post might think there was a general exemption on the basis of weight alone:D
  6. Yes seeing the picture makes all the difference. Chris yes "economy labels" for reusing envelopes. I can remember one green activist I knew who always used to send them on my correspondence to save trees & all that. The problem was these labels got used on new envelopes. More trees would have been saved by not using the labels. :nut:
  7. The crucial thing as well is the unladen weight & was built before 1st January 1960. I think that is Regulation 30 Form V112G/R MRA1 with fuel & spare wheel less driver - 3239kg Laden including passenger & driver - 4536kg
  8. Gerry I don't mind looking but it takes a good 20 mins to find out that something isn't there. Obviously it can be quicker if I find it! When I get a chance I'll look for you. If you hear nothing after 24 hours remind me.
  9. Sorry don't have any for that year just these: Then the collection starts again in 1967.
  10. I think that dog deserves a medal for staying in the back of the Commer.
  11. Principally 1-Ton trucks. Humber FV1601, Morris MRA1, Austin K9. The spare tyre for these is the same size as for the 1 Ton trailer & was the spare for the trailer.
  12. Richard I'm afraid I haven't. I've looked through catalogues for: March 1957 July 1957 Sept 1957 Nov 1957 March 1958 (9-day sale!) June 1959 Some 1957 sales you could get 10 Jeeps for £600.
  13. 24 YH 46 was Lot No.1170H which was part of Lot No.1170 comprising: A Ford 97 YH 09 B Ford 56 YH 68 C Willys 54 YH 30 D Willys 51 YH 64 E Ford 14 YH 65 F Willys 13 YH 35 G Ford 21 YH 38 H Ford 24 YH 46 I Ford 22 YH 56 J Willys 57 YH 17 This was Sale No. 38 which was a 5-day sale. This was sold on the 3rd day being Wed 13th November 1957. Although sold at MOS Storage Depot, Ruddington the vehicles themselves were viewed at 72 "B" Vehicle Depot, RAOC, Market Harborough. I don't have a record of the price realised but Lots of 10 Jeeps seemed to realise £700.
  14. I think they make prunes For my garage inspection lamp I use "rough service" bulbs so that the filaments can withstand a bit of shaking around without blowing. I once went into our hardware shop & duly asked for a 60 watt rough service bulb. Yoof produced a normal domestic bulb & said "I'm sorry nowadays they are all smooth"
  15. One year at W&P I went into the supermarket at Paddock Wood I have to confess I did this in Borat style but I asked an assistant: "Do you sell chicken eggs?" "Um I don't know but we have got ordinary ones"
  16. Actually where I go is cheaper. Even if I was eligible for that old persons Wednesday discount (which you seem to know so much about) this place is still cheaper everyday. Besides the garden centre pensioners discount is today so I don't want to have to go out tomorrow as well :-D
  17. I went into a builder's merchant today, young man (English) asked if I was looking for anything in particular. Me: "Bog seats" Man: "What?" Me: "May I ask do you sell lavatory seats" Man: "I don't know, but we've got toilet seats" Me: "I expect I'll be able to make one fit" Well at least that's the wife's Christmas present sorted :-D :-D :-D
  18. Glad to have unlocked some memories for you Bernard. I always find markings quite fascinating & certainly some of them go back more than 150 years which I'm sure is well before your wagon spotting days :-D
  19. Yes Bernard precisely that. This is from a 1967 RCT manual the context suggests it is BAOR, presumably to West Berlin in particular.
  20. They are indeed well done! I've been dropping few hints along the way about being "on the right track" & "not quite on the right track yet" & "You're on the wrong track"
  21. Tony you very nearly have! You've all been up in the air, on the sea, & under the sea. But yes this is on the land:D Very close but you are not quite on the right track yet.
  22. Ok so nothing in the air, on the sea or under it & not in a bunker. Some more dry cleaning labels to confuse you Mike
  23. Nope nothing airborne in any form Richard.
  24. Good is it Tony? No sailors, cops, construction workers, cowboys, Red Indians, guys from the YMCA etc involved in this post. Sorry if that's disappointing for you.
