Interesting you are going to put Z no on doors, whilst i have seen pic's of MW's with said no's there, I've also seen them with the no's on edge of the right hand bonnet side (just above where the sides slot in),.....must admit to this the location mine will be going on.
Re vehicle markings, it CAN start to get 'interesting',.........Typically the arm of service colour for infantry was RED, within which would be a number representing unit/division.
