I saw it being built in the guys back garden alongside had his halftrack and GMC, they were trying to sell the rocket prior to the show, don't know if anyone did buy it otherwise it was going to be scrapped
A WC51 weighs 2.6 tons WC52 2.8 tons + its design carrying capacity 3/4ton makes both in the 3 to 3.5 ton gross weight so they need a class 7 MOT, the test requirement is the same as a class 4 but the testing station is equiped with a larger ramp to cater for the larger vehicle
I would say they don't, as they were only prototypes, the pic of the partly restored "bug" at W&P is interesting that there is another one. A friend years ago owned a Harrier so that must be still around somewhere, built by the Hunting Percival aircraft company, made of alluminium and powered by a bike engine
Look out for the Mobile Army cinema unit in the living history field adjacent to the Red Ball express guys, where I will be running old military vehicle training and related films, still looking for more WW2 stuff to show, pref on dvd or vhs, will be running films in the evenings too
A good day out, weather great...at last! drove up from S. London in the Jeep, here's a few pics of some of the ww2 mv's, including the very rare and desirable Ford V8 staff car
Alas I can't drive them all, so going to sell the GPW and the Mighty Mite...it could be yours, one of the rarest post war MV's in the UK..one for the Vietnam reenactors, .it now has the proper canvas top too
As Mark said, went Sat, badly organised, got onto the airfield at 8.10am, then queued for 40 mins to be parked next to the fairground.
Another show along with Bromley pageant to cross off the list !
