  1. One reason I don't take my vehicle into the ring is security. No-one to watch over the rest of my stuff while I'm in the arena. Especially , given there are some light fingered people about, who will chance there arm when you are standing there , let alone be trusted when your not there! Even chained up quad bikes are not safe at W&P!!!
  2. Hi, Anyone know whether dogs are allowed at this event? ta Doug
  3. It was good turnout. I managed to find a couple of goodies. but it was Bl**dy COLD!... It took the car heater a long time to thaw out my feet! Doug
  4. Hi, Found this on another forum. thought it might interest people here. Ideal to do up your old WS19 set... I've sent off for a set for the one I want to put in my Jeep. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291038680658?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Doug
  5. hi, I would be interested in one. I'm happy to take on a restoration project. How much would you be looking for it? Doug
  6. looks like a nice day out. I was hoping to join you guys. By the way I'm researching those airfields. Down ampney , Blakehill ( cricklade) and broadwell are the main glider /airborne airfield for British troops on D-Day and market garden. The reference to bradwell grove intrigued me. I think this is the hospital complex which received casualties from D-day and was next to broadwell airfield. Anyone got any further information? Doug
  7. to me. they look like land rover series 1/2 split rims. doug
  8. You might find this on the mapleleaf forum of some use. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6932&highlight=10cwt+trailer Doug
  9. curious, my sankey chassis is a narrow track , samecode, on contract number WV 10710 chassis number 2743 and that's where the plate is.
  10. The contract and service number plate should be on the side of the chassis on the A frame next to the handbrake assembly. doug
  11. interested in the starter motor. how much do you want for it? Doug
  12. sounds good. I'm interested, how much would it cost for the starter motor? I've got a distributer and 12v coil and saw a guy selling kits for the alternator change if the bracket holding the alternator to the M201 block is the same as for a GPW. doug
  13. It's not far from me in a nice wooded area . Been past it several times in the jeep. I did have a look inside once. I thought of asking the guy myself, but it was too big a project for me! good luck with it! Doug
  14. I want to drop the voltage on my hotchkiss from 24v to 12v. As far as I can see the main stumbling block is the starter motor. I understand the number of dog teeth are different on a 24 volt starter motor, is this correct? If it is how do I get round it?. I intend to go for a 12v alternator and change the distributor. reason for looking at this is to clear the engine bay and make it easier/ cheaper to get parts. Some 24v stuff costs an arm and a leg. Better to change now than wait for big things like the regulator to fail. Anyone done it and have any advice? Doug
  15. I'm looking for one. not seen one on e-bay for ages and haven't found them at any of the fairs.
  16. hi, I suggest its because when you run the engine for a few minutes it wasn't hot enough for complete combustion and hence the soot. Should be fine after a long run and cleaning the plugs. If it doesn't sort itself out, the piston rings may be passing oil... look for a lot of blue smoke out the exhaust. hope this helps. Doug
  17. be careful. I was chasing an electrical fault on my misses 77' 109FFR. managed to pull the wires on the back of the ammeter off as i was testing circuits. Damn thing shorted and I couldn't isolate the batteries quick enough. 24V packs a wallop. Now i've got to trace the damage into the shielded cable:red: What wiring diagram are you using? if its for a lightweight, be carefull they are not quite the same. I have found one , if you need it. Doug

  19. definately a later addition. The master cylinder is such a *###** to get to and check levels , it was probably done to make it easier. Especially when bleeding the brakes. Doug
  20. maybe the number plate of the low loader is captured in the background of on someones pics..... Doug
  21. We heard all the doom and gloom,,, but we still went on saturday!! as MOPs:-) and we aare glad we did..... fantastic day..... arena events were good, excellent displays. Didn't see too many puddles in the dugouts....!.... one or two areas were bad around the site but no were near as bad as we expected... we didn't even need our wellies... The ground really dried out with just a couple of days sun. We are hoping to take our vehicles next year.so at least we know what to expect..... Only one thing really took the shine off the day. THE TOILETS!!! :shocking: I see most at the site made their own arrangements....but those provided for the public were disgusting..... I'm surprised the organisers get away with it!!! providing in some parts of the field basically an open bucket in a small box... I really don't want to SEE and SMELL what previous depositors left... I was sorely tempted to use the nearby hedge!! If other events like Evesham war in the vale event can provide basic, but reasonable toilets ( of the flip flop type) and clean them out regularly, why cann't they.... especially having having paid £20 on the door. (sorry.... end of rant) Doug
