david052 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Hi I am looking to remove the alternator from my CVRT for cleaning and repainting, and to get rid some of the accumulated grease underneath it. It seems to have a 1/2" allen headed socket buried underneath it - does anyone know where I can get a really loooong allen key from? Cheers David Quote
David Ives Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 try this http://tooltray.com/Hand-Tools/Allen-%26-Hexagon-Keys/Allen-Keys-Long-Arm-Imperial/Long-Arm-Allen-Key-1%2F2in-81044.htm Quote
david052 Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 8 1/2"? That might work - will give it a measure at the weekend - cheers! Quote
andyroo Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 A bit of 1/2" hex bar in a 1/2" hex socket on the end of an extention. Thats what I used on mine. Quote
Grasshopper Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Might i suggest removing the end cover and cleaning out the dust from the brush box while the alternator is out. I had an CVRT alternator that would not work, and after much diagnostics and head scratching, found the brush box full of dust. Easy to do if you remove it. Quote
