The two media combine well to paint a very graphic and realistic picture of the conditions endured by troops in the Great War, in a way in which stuffy historical analysis simply cannot do. If detailed written histories are not your cup of tea, this book might be the best way to get an insight into the war. Highly recommended. Edited August 9, 2008 by N.O.S. Posted August 13, 2008 Author Share Posted August 13, 2008 I forgot to mention that the photographs in this book are taken from 'the unique archives of the Daily Mail' - I've never seen any of them before, and they are stunning images.
