chevpol Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Morning all, just a quick question, were WC52/53 Dodges ever issued to British units during WW11? I know they were supplied to Russia. Simillary, apart from Dizzy T, Sherman etc, were any other US vehicles? (not canadian) I await the combined wisdom to dazzle with your knowledge!! :-D Mark : Quote
AndyB Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 My thoughts on this was that most of the Dodge WC51/52's (Cdn APT's) went to the Far East, although I was at a show a few years ago when a veteran from an RArty unit serving in Palastine after the war commented that the Btys had Bedfords MW's but the RP staff had a Dodge AndyB Quote
woa2 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 A couple of years ago I went to a lecture given by a WW2 cameraman who was in the Far East, and American vehicles, especially Jeeps and Dodges, were common. British vehicles were rare in the films he showed. Also, I have seen Dodges in British services in Italy in photos. There are photos in the IWM archives of brand new Dodges in British service with their contract numbers. Quote
Tony B Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Most were in use in the Far East, though they were used in Europe. Quote
