gps
i am toying with the idea of puting a scania V8 12 LTR in a explorer but having a hard job finding an engine . They all seam to go for export. I am sure it will fit and i have not heard of one being done. with the chassis in such a bear state now is the time to decide what engine to fit. can any one help
radiomike7
i am toying with the idea of puting a scania V8 12 LTR in a explorer but having a hard job finding an engine  I am not surprised, there isn't a Scania 12 litre V8, the early ones were 14 litre and the current ones are 16 litre. I doubt you could sensibly fit a V8 as the extra width would foul the steering box and the gearbox would certainly not take the torque. If it has to be a Scania why not try the old 9 litre as it revs quite high and will maintain a reasonable top speed. Easiest conversion is a Leyland 680 Power Plus at about 200bhp or with a bit more work a Rolls 220 will fit - Witham have some recons in the current tender. 6 X 6
Easiest conversion is a Leyland 680 Power Plus at about 200bhp Plenty of power available with one of these very compact engines without causing undue stress and strain in an elderly gearbox/transmission. N.O.S.
By gear changing I assume you mean swapping the cogs after they have broken:-D :rofl:No Mike! Andy - does that mean you have "put permanently beyond use" the video footage of me 'momentarily' forgetting that I had set up the clutch brake, thereby requiring a slightly different use of the clutch pedal? Thank goodness!
