Make an old soldier very happy.

Hi everybody...I'm not sure if I've posted this in the correct place, and if I have, please accept my apologies.

My name is Steve, and whilst I'm not an old soldier, my father is...He celebrates his 75th birthday this year, and as a birthday surprise I am trying to arrange for him to drive a Centurion tank!

During his National Service he drove Centurion tanks in the UK, and then overseas in both Germany and Libya.

He was in the Royal Scots Greys "The finest regiment ever", but he would say that wouldn't he?...And for as long as I can remember, he has wanted to drive a Centurion again...He was talking to my brother recently, and when my brother jokingly remarked that my dad was getting a bit old for that sort of thing, Dad replied that he'd probably feel a bit sore, but it would be worth it!

Unfortunately, the only Centurion driving experiences that I have been able to find are in Australia, which is a mighty long way to go...And my brothers and I aren't that rich!

So, I am asking if anyone out there knows of anything that might fit the bill in the UK? Does anyone know of a group or an individual who would be prepared to let my dad drive a Centurion tank? or, failing that a Comet, as that was the tank he actually learned to drive in!

If anyone has any ideas, please get in touch and we can discuss the details/costs etc.

Many thanks (and fingers crossed)

Steve Clayson

ps My dad is remarkably fit for a man of seventy four and three quarters!
