Royal42
Hello, I have heard different names describing the tubular bars on the back of service vehicles. On the Land Rovers I drove, we called them roll bars. On the Bedford RL's I'd heard descriptions such as tilt cover and canopy frame etc., but what are those those tubular frames actually called? Do they have a descriptive name in manuals? cheers, Mike
fv1609
Mike you will find that the frame is itemised with its individual components variously described as stick, strut & rail. As for the complete assembly, looking in repair instructions they refer to the assembly as the "support frame". Incidentally if you are thinking of repairs to your canvas for an RL I have a number of REME repair procedures.
Royal42
Thanks Clive, I don't have an actual vehicle, I am a modeller and building a 1:35 scale truck. I just couldn't think what the general term for the complete frame would be called. cheers, Mike
