  1. Glad to help. I don't think that Photobucket removed the images, my understanding was that the photo owners deleted them from their PB accounts; hence, why they disappeared. The one that are still there, albeit with the watermarks, can be recovered but I'm not sure whether the owners can be bothered to do the work to recover them, even with this newfound information. Non-originators cannot edit those post; therefore, it would be up to the originators to do the recoveries. I must admit that it would be really good to see some of those images restored, there are some wonderful images on this site, plus those photo owners would have put some effort into taking and processing them for our benefit. cheers, Mike
  2. No ingenuity I'm afraid, I found out by accident as I pressed the wrong buttons. Either that or it's all smoke and mirrors! Hopefully, some members will be able to revisit their posts and insert restored copies. cheers, Mike
  3. Hi Clive, I think you may have selected the image in my post, which I have saved to Imgur. I would recommend you find another image on HMVF, or any other site, and try again with one of those. Let me know how you get on. cheers, Mike
  4. Hello all, I have noticed that a lot of images on here have the Photobucket watermark over them. I'm not sure if this will work for everyone but I have found a way to open those images, without the watermark, by right-clicking. The way I do it is: select the photo and right-click the mouse. This will open up a drop down menu. select "open link in new tab". This should then open a new tab showing the photo without the watermark. Save the recovered image using File/Save as etc. or take a screenshot and save that. Herewith an example: I hope this works for you. Actually, I would be interested if this does work for other members. Please post here if it works for you, or not. Seasons greetings, Mike
  5. Here's another variation, patches on elbows but not on shoulders. Belfast 1969. cheers, Mike
  6. Hello Rosso, thank you for your kind offer of help, I do appreciate it. I am a modeller that likes to build small scale vehicles and, as such, I am looking for dimensions and images of the external components of theFB4 engine. I work to 1:35 scale, which would be much too small to produce any internal parts; although I would like to attempt that one day. If you could help with any plans or diagrams with dimensions of the engine block, gearbox, and any covers and sumps etc., then that would be great. Would it be better to send them to my email addy? mike (dot) costello (at) btinternet All the best, Mike
  7. Hi Ruxy, that is very interesting and welcome information, thank you for sharing it. The photo of the Lightweight assigned to me, can't call is mine, 15FM42 was taken in Norway in 1976. You mentioned the reflectors and, as you saw, this vehicle had the small rectangular versions. cheers, Mike
  8. The interesting element about the offset mast clamp was, as I understood it, so that the mast sat beside the rear lights. My Lightweight was a modified Mk.1 version that had the front grill and lights upgraded, but not the rear. The later Mk.2 version had an extra light added, where the reflector is positioned on my vehicle; so, was the base plate changed again perhaps to fit between the lights, or even moved further away from the rear body? cheers, Mike
  9. The antenna is a typical 1960s/70s McMichael/Chelton UHF blade antenna for military aircraft, such as this one for a Westland Wasp or a Westland Wessex cheers, Mike
  10. Hello Robin, TACP = Tactical Air Control Party FAC = Forward Air Controller Blue/Red vertical with the following numbers denote Royal Marines units: 1 = 3 Commando Brigader RM 5 - 41 Commando RM 6 - 43 Commando RM 7 - 40 Commando RM 8 - 42 Commando RM 9 - 45 Commando RM 19 - 3 Commando Brigade Air Squadron RM (3CBAS) cheers, Mike
  11. Hello Clive, thank you for the link to those files, all three PDFs will be useful for my dioramas at some stage. cheers, Mike
  12. Wow! I couldn't put one up as quick as you responded to my request, and I've put a fair few up in my time. Thank you very much indeed! Mike
  13. Yes, I know it is 9ft by 9ft; however, I want to build a scale model of one to attach to the back of a Land Rover kit. I am looking for dimensions of: the poles the angle pieces height of shoulder section height at apex opening around the vehicle opening entrance etc. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who can supply all or some of those dimensions; perhaps even a plan. cheers, Mike
  14. Thank you for the explanation of Land Rover tyres, it is a subject that I know very little about and need to learn more. I now understand that my vehicle 15 FM 42 had Goodyear 6.50x16 HiMilers fitted at the time. cheers, Mike
  15. Hi Robin. Yes, no problem. Here is another photo although not as clear. cheers, Mike
  16. Hello Iain, the bar type tyres came with the kit; however, I have sourced other types but after I had fitted the bar types. I'll do another Lightweight later with correct Goodyear HiMiler tyres, as in this image. cheers, Mike
  17. Hello BD, I am currently making a model kit of a Lightweight, to 1:35 scale, and would like to add a Larkspur set up in it. The intention is to have a C11/R210 and a C42 fitted onto the radio cage. I have forgotten how the C11/R210 is set up, would it be possible for you to show some photos of your set up please? The vehicle I plan to match. The kit 3D printed radio cage cheers, Mike
  18. Hello all, I am building a kit of a Land Rover to 1:35 scale which will represent a vehicle I used in Norway. I would like to find out what the components of a 27ft mast consisted of, including the isolator unit, and their measurements. The mast is connected to a flat metal plate which is clamped to the rear left bumper unit and also clamped to the rear left canopy frame. Any information and advice on this would be appreciated. cheers, Mike
  19. Thanks MF, those links are very interesting. I note that one suggestion is that it could be a GMC vehicle, based on the type of wheel hubs in the photos. Can anyone help further with this please? cheers, Mike
  20. It is a Chinese armoured car captured by the Japanese in 1938 during the second Sino Japanese war. Any idea what the original vehicle was converted from? Thanks, Mike
  21. Hello Mammoth, the intention would be to scratchbuild the engine, and the vehicle in 1:35 scale or larger; therefore, if you could help with any plans, images and dimensions then that would be appreciated very much indeed. cheers, Mike
  22. I have just come across this link about the Thornycroft A1, as I am trying to find information, plans and images of the FB4 engine. Can anyone here please help, or advise me of likely online sources? I don't have the funds to go buying the rare and expensive books; therefore, I am hoping fellow members may have so details available please. cheers, Mike
  23. Thanks for that piece of information. As I understand this, the distance from the body front to the back of the wheel arch is the same for both 86in and 88in. To make an 88in, I would need to insert a 2in slice behind the arch to make it an 88in. Wonderful stuff! Mike
  24. Those pages will be very useful Oh Five, thank you. Are there any sections within that manual which describe the measurements of those body panels and road springs, or even diagrams? cheers, Mike
