777 AAA
Hi all. A friend of mine is restoring his open cab 352, with winch. I has bought a reproduction late model dataplate and he's wondering what numbers he should engrave on it. He is missing the "vehicle wt. unloaded" and "max gross wt" values. Does anyone own a CCKW 352 with an open cab and a winch that still have it's original dataplate to get these values on it? I would be interessted in pictures of your plate, if possible. Thanks

777 AAA
Thank you for your answer. Do you take that from an original dataplate or what source?
abn deuce
thats from a copy of the War Departmant Technical Manual TM 9-801 dated 24 April 1944 page
777 AAA
I see... Don't you find strange that 352 and 353 does have exactly the same weight? :dunno:
Degsy
Boniface and Jeudy list the weights in kg's as follows, 352 w/o winch 4695, w/winch 5012, 353 w/o winch 4785, w/winch 5103, to get gross off road wt add 2427kg's to all above figures. abn deuce
I see your point its a good question , perhaps with the shorter chassis on the 352 that the extra weight is made from the second spare tire and heavier duel spare tire carrier? on the other hand when you look at the figures for a chassis and cab only the 352 with or with out winch out weights the 353 w/w 9,167 to 8,800 wo/w 8,462 to 8,100 ??? thats for a1-a2-b1-b2 . Guess we will have to wait for some one to post a pic of their data plate and see what that shows??

Yes, perhaps. But you'll note that the TM doesn't make any difference between the open and closed cab either. :dunno: I think they weren't very accurate about this point in the manual. abn deuce
I think thats because the open cabs were in use or production in late 43 and the manual is dated 44 and would then only apply to open cabs ... I hadn't thought about that possibility. There is a very knowledgable gentleman on another site " ww2dodge.com" screen named Ranger who would know . 777 AAA
A friend has two TM 9-801. One dated 24.04.1944, the other one dated 1942. I'll ask him to compare the values.
