Raf jeep

Hi, I have a jan 45 mb which has the original raf 208989 written on the hood. Is there a list of numbers anywhere or someone who knows could help tell me where the jeep might have been stationed ww2/ post war, any help greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, there are no known records for wartime census numbers currently. It's unlikely that any have survived.

If the vehicle remained in service for the introduction of the "modern" reg system, eg 12AB34, then the old census number is recorded on there. However, they don't usually give any service prior to when the card was drawn up.

Thanks Bryan, it’s post war number was 22AA25, perhaps I can check that way

try RAF Cosford if you have the post 1949 ERM (22 AA 25)

for a fee they will send you the card they have.

they have been closed until April.

I have tried raf Hendon, unfortunately they do not have the card
