BravoFoxtrot
My daughter picked this dat plate up at a coin vendors market stall yesterday. We assume that it was a mark III that was later converted to a mark 11. The date in 49 appears to be when only mark III were being made. The LR is Long Range meaning more fuel tanks ? Any further information greatly received.
Adrian Barrell
I believe this tank is with The Tank Museum in the reserve collection. Originally T352068. The ZR tells you it was in service prior to the 'new' style of WD numbers. If the tank has survived, the plate, or at least a copy of it, ought to be in it, in my opinion.
BravoFoxtrot
Strangely enough my daughter did take it to Bovington shortly after she acquired it and showed it to the Research staff but they did not twig it was associated with one of theirs. She will send them a note...
Adrian Barrell
That doesn't surprise me. I would hold fire for a bit as there is some doubt as to the vehicles whereabouts. If it has dropped off the radar, you might as well keep the plate. I'll do some checking.
BravoFoxtrot
Adrian we had also spotted that it was MIA. I am wondering if the British Museums approach to the Elgin Marbles holds here.
