PaulBT22
Can anyone help me with the correct valve clearances for the Jaguar J60 engine in a CVRT Scimitar? There seem to be several different options. The block is not ribbed and is not slotted between the cylinders if this makes a difference (a fairly early engine) Just building the cylinder head up now to re-install and I want to get the valve clearances right. Thank you. Paul
sirhc
It will be in this book but I don’t have a copy handy: https://www.greenmachinesurplus.com/cvrtcvrwj60-petrol-engine-emers-211-p.asp
PaulBT22
Thanks Chris, I only need the valve clearances though so would prefer not to pay £50 if possible. Does anyone else have the details to hand ?
john1950
I would think just the same as XK clearances. early engines 4 Thou inlet, 6 Thou exhaust. Post 1968/69 engines 12 Thou inlet, 14 Thou exhaust. If the engine has many hours on and you have access to an endoscope check the lower timing chain tensioner when you take the cam covers off. To see if it is still in place. Edited January 12, 2023 by john1950
PaulBT22
Hi John, Thanks very much for this, mine's a 1975 so the larger clearances will suit it. Thanks as well for the tip about the lower tensioner, I will check it
