Cyprien
Hi there, I'm new to this forum but I've found a lot of interesting info. I am asking you because I very recently bought a Triumph 3HW motorcycle, not knowing the subject at all, I would have liked to have your opinion and your advice. I also saw on another post that it was possible to know the "C" number on the tank, if someone could give it to me I would like to put it back on it. I found the following numbers on the bike Under saddle: TEC 742 Motor: 3HW 42695 and second number: C13948 Front frame: TL31772 Gearbox: TE-43424 Thanks in advance for your feedback. Ron
Sorry for late response and welcome to the forum. TEC 742 = Triumph Engineering Company July 1942. Frame TL 31772 was the 850th bike from 5495 from contract C13948. I calculate the tank census number to be C887536 Your engine is not the one it left the factory with but is from the same contract.....Which is fine! rewdco
Contract C13948 is one of these b****y mixed RASC - RAOC contracts. Nobody knows if the RASC bikes were delivered before the RAOC, or vice versa, or if they were simply mixed up. So it could have been any census number between 886687 - 890052 and 4852001 - 4854129. I'm not going to argue with Ron's other observations though... 😄 Jan
Ron
Yes I only calculated the number based on the frame and census numbers running in sequence. It's just a best guess without proper documentation. Cheers Ron Edited November 14, 2022 by Ron
