Jerryjeeprichard Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 I’ve been slowly getting some more tinwork remade, Last few days work have been in remanufacturing the side panels, added difficulty of having to press in the lovers. Added complexity of trying to find someone with lover tooling, in the end I had to make a tool to get the sizes I needed. 2 Quote
Jerryjeeprichard Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 I thought I would update this post with another images of another 5kv trailer chassis. This particular chassis originally was fitted out with a murex welder. Now I’m not sure if this was an original build or army modification? 1 Quote
cordenj Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Having worked on "Low Orginal chassis" and this one (High), I found this higher chassis much easier for access to the engine. Perhaps after they decided it was never going in a glider again, the REME just did what you've done (in reverse) and removed the low chassis and fitted this one? Quote

I’m sure there would have been an abundance of these trailers after the war that were adapted for various applications. Quote
Jerryjeeprichard Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 Managed to grab a few hours yesterday removing some of the additional bits of steel. Just trying to pull this back to an original generator chassis some before and after pictures. 2 Quote
Jerryjeeprichard Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 I managed to grab a few hours on the generator chassis, the rear cross member had been cut down, altered and new sections welded in. Easiest way to repair was to replace. Fortunately I have donor trailer I could utilise a complete rear cross member from. 4 Quote
