N.O.S.
Jack - I'm sure it was a Chevrolet, quite different mechanical gubbins (even diff. ratios are different).
Richard Farrant
I'm sure it was a Chevrolet, quite different mechanical gubbins Quite right it was a Chev, but remembering that truck from way back, I am sure it has been fitted with a GMC 270 engine in its later life. N.O.S.
Hmmm, just done that to a Chev M6 and had no idea it would turn out to be such a blooming difficult job, what with reshaping front crossmember and drilling/tapping bellhousing for pedal brackets etc :shake:
Jack
I am not going to argue with you chaps - but I was sure it was a GMC
Great War truck
What this one? http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Greatwartruck/DSCN0581.jpg[/img] I think it is a Chevrolet too. The hood side panels have less flutes than the GMC ones which go all the way along. Also the GMC's have their name on the front of the hood. Jack
 Yes that is it and you are right, it is a Chevy. B*gger - wanted one to learn my nut and bolt restoration skills on. Does anyone know of any other? Looking at the position of the blackout light I would say that it is an early one.
pop larkin
Looking at the grill, blackout lamp and the Chevrolet embossed side panels I would say it was a 1941-42 truck. They stopped producing the side panels in late '42-43.
Great War truck
B*gger - wanted one to learn my nut and bolt restoration skills on. Does anyone know of any other? So Jack, what exactly did you mean by that? Were you looking to buy it, or restore theirs? Tim (too)
TooTallMike
B*gger - wanted one to learn my nut and bolt restoration skills on. Does anyone know of any other? Rex is selling the softskin stuff to focus on restoring his armour collection so why not give him a call? I saw this truck at his workshops about 8 weeks ago.
