Did anyone else see the above film, (sat night)

 

I thought it was V.good,...........if unlikely in parts, although it was based on real experience, and the two guys were real people, the sarge going on to win the MC, and the private going on to become deputy mayor of Newcastle upon Tyne, (I think)

 

What with that and a Dad army, I'd not seen before before it, it made for a good evenings TV, for a change..............

I didn't get to see it all but what i saw was quite good... (one or two bits of postwar kit/vehicles in it here 'n' there)... but better than the usual saturday night drivel that oozes from the 'idiot lantern' :roll:

I did it was good it was intresting that it was based on a real story,the court marshal punished them for being AWOL ! 28 days in the guard room and the Sargent demoted.

Just caught the tail end of it but what I saw was very good . As Andy says , makes a change from the usual Stars-on-X-Factor-Wannbe crap.

Very good I thought - how much of it was actually true? From google i've found a site that mentions they only got halfway across the channel, ran out of fuel and were towed home by a naval patrol (then again it also calls him Lance Sergeant King!), but another said the real story was more dramatic as to what happened.
