SimonBrown
I have been out diving and scanning again, this time it was the Alvis Saracen now sitting in 15m of water at the National Diving and Activity Centre near Chepstow. Does anyone know the history of this example? daleheywoodtanks
unusually it is an FV610 Armoured Command Post, a bit thin on the ground now. Heres a pic of mine for comparison, (during a refurb) battery boxes removed from the sides.
SimonBrown
Thanks for the ID Dale. What makes it stand out as a command post?
Starfire
Mostly the high roof and lack of turret. There are a number of other differences. FV610 Armoured Command Post Royal Artillery (ACP-RA).

daleheywoodtanks
I get the 'external' measurement of the door to 1360mm Probably less 20mm top and bottom to actual door opening. See attached.
daleheywoodtanks
The doors appear to be 1200mm wide. Less 40mm (or maybe 30mm) to give opening size.
daleheywoodtanks
and for the sake of completeness, the external side mounted battery boxes are 890mm long. I hope all this helps Simon !
