Scotch Harry
Was watching this pouch on Ebay as somewhere I have a near identical pouch and its made of more of a canvas type material and not the regular type webbing that 44 Patt stuff is made of. Any thoughts or ideas please? Thanks

Scotch Harry
Any ideas on them as while mine, the ebay one and the one pictured on here have good markings, they never seem to be 100% clear enough to make out in order to try and ID these. MHillyard
Just looked in Simon Howlett's post war webbing book, he calls it a local contract nylon piece but not much more than that
earlymb
More info on this page: http://www.karkeeweb.com/patterns/1944/1944_equipment_other.html Excellent website for all sorts of British webbing!
ferretfixer
Yes, I was monitoring that pouch on 'That' Auction site as well. I have just acquired a similar pouch without the interior padding. Which is for Revolver Ammo. these are indeed canvas webbing. & NOT made of nylon. From the weave & Type of Canvas. My opinion is, they are of Canadian manufacture. Or POSSIBLY Austrailian perhaps? As this is typical of these two countries webbing equipment finishes. Juts MY thought on this topic. Someone else maybe able to contribute more definite data/Information?
chrisgrove
Sam Sing in Hong Kong used to make all sorts of webbing items. As far as I remember his webbing looked much like the issue stuff, but faded much quicker! Chris
SimonLMoore
I have always understood that these were made in Hong Kong. Will check the markings on mine when I get a chance but I don't think they're any different from those already shared.
