The Auck
I am puting together an WW2 artillery battery command post and would like some help as to the equipment used to connect the gun battery phones to the battery officers CP. It's the control unit I require that the various phones would be wired into. Can't find it in W for W books. Thanks Nigel
g0ozs
Do you mean a manual telephone exchange ? At that time it would likely have been a 10 line magneto switchboard see: http://www.qsl.net/pe1ngz/army/army-uk/uk-line-img/switchboard-magneto-10line.jpg or http://www.qsl.net/pe1ngz/army/army-uk/uk-line-img/uc10.jpg You can request much documentation from royalsignals.org.uk - I guess it isn't in the WftW books because it isn't wireless ? Regards Iain The first photo is of a 1944 exchange and you need a phone with it to make it complete. The second photo is of an earlier exchange which is a complete unit. My advice is to go for the earlier exchange.
