the-blue-cloud
Hello, I am looking for information about the license plates in the 60s and 70s. Were there any special mark required for the army? For Army vehicles abroad? Can be drawn with the plate combination conclusions ?? for example: 26 XG 80 24 XG 39 29 XG 61 As I understand it, means the "X" = Berlin Is it possible with the previous license plates conclusions to get on the vehicle type ?? Thank you.

Thank you. I found a very interesting web page after searching 'military registration numbers', the page was on mafva.net, a military modelling site. According to that XG registrations were for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in continental Europe. A word of warning for anyone looking at this web page, there is a LOT of interesting information on it and you can easily lose track of time when reading it. the-blue-cloud
So it's even harder to find something with little knowledge of the English language. If additional facts may be closed to the vehicle type based on the numbers, I would be grateful for any help.
ltwtbarmy
Hello, 26 XG 80 24 XG 39 29 XG 61 I don't know about types, but 24XG47 was an Auto Union Munga. It's so close that possibly 24xg39 might also have been a vehicle of the same make. Thanks to another post on another thread today! http://www.berlin1.de/berlin-sehen/berlin-bilder/queen-elizabeth-ii-besucht-berlin-20153083 http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?5187-Munga-talk/page95

And the Royal Navy on German built vehicles used in Germany, with the exception of XG registrations as mentioned in my earlier post. For example 28XG39 was a Mercedes 3 tonne 4x4 truck. It appears that XC registrations were used on British built vehicles of the Berlin Brigade such as Land-Rovers.
