Niels v
Hi One of my friends recently bought this Aussie war time datede uniform in Denmark, and we are having trouble identifying it. Does anyone know what it is? We where thinking an officeres uniform but it is in wool like the battle dress. it has matching trousers, the style and colour is very different to the normal Aussie battles that we find here. Chris_Collins
The colour throws me a bit, but it does vary from a colour not unlike british Bd to a dark olive drab. The Pattern is the pre- austerity ORs Service dress uniform, its very similiar to Australian ww1 service dress without the integral belt. naaficook
The complete uniform-tunic has been dyed brown and given to cloth prisoners of war. You can also find british and canadian uniforms in black, brown and purple/brown. Wool will absorb the dye much better then cotton so the labels will stay nearly white. If you open the thighly sewn seams, so sometimes find the original khaki colours. Nice find BTW.
Niels v
Thanks for that very interesting information, I had actually had that thought, it could have been a POW uniform based on a uniform that I saw in an episode of Foyle's war, but I could not get it confirmed. I wonder how it has turned up in Denmark.
