Stolly Spotlight Removal

The extent some MV owners will go to just to remove a Stolly spotlight for Neil. It took Simon Stolly, Grumpy and a Militant Mk3 recovery to lift the stolly cab and lower it to the ground so the light could be removed in safety.

I think the whole thing was an excuse just so Scott could show of his crane skill's.

Just got back from a much-needed week long family break in Somerset so haven't seen any one yet!

Off to the Fort this morning for the Grays carnival - rang Phil last night to get details and was told he'd finished the sprayng for me so I'm looking forwards to seeing her in her new glory!! :-) :-) :-)

Working on those! :-)

Went to fit the new light today - and the law of Sod reared it's ugly head.

Existing light is secured by 3 c/sunk headed screws/bolts - new light uses 4 hex-head bolts - slight problem!!!

Right now - if we can persuade the existing linkage to rotate (seized solid) we'll drill out the rivets holding the old bracket and rivet it onto the new on. The old light body basically has fallen apart from the dreaded tin worm...

Come on Neil there is a limit to how much you should be loving your stolly, especially in public.

Hah!!

Anyways - thanks to Lee who kindly made me up a peg spanner to fit the new belts are on and tensioned. And with the help of John, Lee, Phil and Fred she's now ready for the off on Friday morning for the HouseHold Cavalry pageant. If they ever finish deciding where the vehicles will be dropped...

As regards the spot light - I had to swap the mechanism mount over from the old light housing to the new one which meant getting the existing mount off and then driling and rivetting the old mount in place. Finished that today, it's not wired up yet (no time), and looks good. Will post pics of the mod after the pageant as tomorrow is Drinkies day for the 50 or so of us being retired early at the end of the month.

Not at all!! John lent a hand with the drilling and rivetting of the modified spot light mounting and donated a spare fire extinguisher carrier when the securing strap snapped on one my external ones!!!

You malign the poor chap - this time!!!
