Enigma
Post war Westinghouse/Micarta liner. Restored. These liners are sometimes sold as WW2 because the seller hasn't noticed the sticker with date or is just ignoring it. Enigma
So, I was asked by a friend to paint the profile of a Jeep on both sides of a Turtle helmet. I told him I'd add some details... Handpainted; Close up. Edited June 16, 2014 by Enigma

Enigma
OK, its not a helmet but has a similarity. The originals had metal plates made from the same steel as a helmet. This one is all repro apart for the J-hooks and most of the webbing. It does have metal plates inside.
Enigma
Lately I've been busy converting a few Belgian para helmets (UK type). I enlarged liners but also made new liners from scratch and converted a RAC and Despatch Rider shell.

Nice para helmet too.

Enigma
Been busy making British MK3 parahelmets. Sizes around 58-60 I guess. -New webbing -New or altered chinstraps -New foam -New leather sweatbands -New crashpads in the top -Original or look-alike buckles -Original or new rough finish -Original (WW2?) screws/bolts -RAC or despatch shells, new holes made. Original (WW2?) shells So, the left is a despatch shell, I left the Original finish on it, looks great I think. The chinstrap was a SOF one but looked like crap, I altered it. Middle one was a RAC and the right one a Despatch shell. Rough finish applied by me.
Enigma
I thought it was time to paint something new to put on the bookcase; Tankdestroyers, swivel bale.
datadawg
Just finishedWAC medic helmet with a lot of aging applied. Real WW2 shell; Maybe a newbie question, but how do you tell if the helmet if WWII? If it's from US, would there be a date on it? I am planning to buy a halftrack and it would be neat to have an authentic helmet when driving it.

Enigma
On Facebook Mark (Snapper) noted his M1 helmet looked good but wasn't practicle when using a camera. In WW2 the same thing was noted so the T-14 helmet was developed. It used parts from 2 postwar helmets to make a medievel looking hinged visor helmet. The outside was pinted with a fine structure paint. I decided to make one and installed a modified liner with new webbing. Damn that was a difficult project....
