On September 8th I'm going to fly in a Dakota C-47 over the Market Garden battlefields :schocked: :-D 8-) WOW!! It will be a marvelous trip - Dakota is a lovely looking aeroplane and has always been one of my favourite WWII aircraft. Joris Posted June 27, 2007 Author Share Posted June 27, 2007 Some more information on the C-47 we'll be flying in: PH-PBA This is the former private airplane of HRH Prince Bernhard. It's in a very luxious setting with only 18 seats available (25 in the other plane). The best thing about this plane is it's WWII history. It was delivered on 11 january 1944 to the US 8th Airforce (s/n 42-100971) where it participated in operation Market Garden. I can't imagine it not being used in Normandy, Bastogne and Varsity.
